What Most People Think Affiliate Marketing Is About And Why They Are Wrong!

I've heard about fellow affiliate marketers who are complaining about not having success, both in and out of Wealthy Affiliate.

I have to admit that I am discouraged with my progress as well when I started affiliate marketing.

After 6 months or so, with 20-30 articles on my website, I wonder why I'm not making sales.

Is affiliate marketing a scam?

Well, affiliate marketing is a scam if you treat it like one.

I've seen people doing affiliate marketing by dropping links to make-money-online products on Facebook Group.

Often, these are exagarated programs that have a nice-suited person driving Lambo telling you to enjoy life while the system takes care of money for you.

Or about blasting emails to a huge list and expect high conversion.

Many of these doesn't work. And some that does fizzle out in the end, because there's no substance and whatsover.

In this sense, affiliate marketing is a scam, because people are selling poor quality programs that teach people how to make money online.

Or getting referrals to get more referrals like a Ponzi scheme.

Build A Sustainable Online Business Instead

Look, I'm always stuck with the idea that business has to be a conventional model, of people buying and selling on a brick and mortar location.

But after having my first website generating a few hundred dollars a month, I'm convinced that I'm in the business of content and information, while making a living doing it.

I'm now growing my second niche website and organic traffic starts trickling in. What's more crazy is that I took up the Super Affiliate Challenge which saw me working on a 3rd website.

Focus And Patience Is Key

I spent 3 years working on a single website. I've made so many mistakes that I've almost given up at times.

I'm grateful I didn't.

If you're stuck with your website, that means there's a lesson to be learn and you'll have breakthrough after that.

Don't hesitate to ask around the WA community. We're all helping each other to be succesful.

Be patience, focused and learn from mistakes time and again. If you're not making mistakes, it it means you're not taking action.

And lastly, be a true affiliate marketer who brings value.

P.S. you don't need to teach people how to make money to make money.

Note: The H2 is not working. Hopefully Kyle will get it fixed soon.

Cheers,
Kenny

Kenny, great sharing here! I'm from Malaysia too.. Nice to know that you've made money through affiliate marketing! I've just joined WA days ago. Hopefully i would also be able to get the same result liked you in the near future! I've followed you here in WA.

Great that you've hop on to WA. All the best to you.

I’ve been around for six months and just started seeing organic traffic coming in, either direct or via search engines. Something I did wrong early was focusing too much on selling and too little on informing. I also didn’t do evergreen posts at first. When I turned my site into an online encyclopedia of my niche (it’s somewhat historical) and informed, traffic trickled in.

Thank you for sharing, your experience. I haven't been working on my site for long but, I am starting to learn that yes indeed this does take work and there is a lot to learn. But, its' all fun and interesting at the same time.

Patience is the key, and pushing through the tough times. Great article.

You're absolutely right. You can never stop learning. All the best.

Thank you! I wish you all the best as well...
