What's in today's Google Doodle share?

Once in a while, Google Doodle Animation are very creative creatures that are created to stimulate interest in story-telling and story-sharing.

Ever heard of Croc Wrestling? ...

Google is celebrating what would have been Steve Irwin's 57th Anniversary today ....
he was born on February 22, 1962.

He lived a most interesting life in televising the life of natural wildlife in Australia and in concert with the Australia Zoo.

Unfortunately, he succumbed when he was stung in the heart by a Stingray at a tender 44 years young.

If you're curious about this Google Doodle and the life of Steve Irwin, simply go on Google's Home Page and enjoy the animation along with more information.

Enjoy a wondrous, natural day!

Cheerio ... smile! ... you're on croco-camera! ... lol ... :)

I've to see it soon.

yes, for sure, Jimmy -- appreciate you popping in to check it out ..
cheerio .. :)

Crikey - missed but never forgotten.

hey hi Kerry -- Crikey it is! ... all the best...

I was actually driving past Australia Zoo when it came over the radio that he had passed.. was the most surreal experience of my life..

hi Paul -- surreal? ... thanks kindly for sharing.... :)

Yeah.. just looking at the zoo and knowing what would be going on inside made it surreal. I met him once at a cafe in Noosa.. he was so generous with his time to my little girls.

I didn't know him but it is certainly one if those occasions where you remember where you were when it was announced - like Princess Dianna...

yes, agree, absolutely -- it's the greatness of soul is what we feel when greatness passes ...

so glad that you've got a happy memory of meeting him ... :)

I live not far from Australia Zoo, which you get to along Steve Irwin Way.

He was a great guy with a huge zest for life and passionate about conservation. He was what we like to think of as a typical Aussie, though of course there's really no such thing. Like most people, we cover a broad spectrum.

Steve's legacy is not just Australia Zoo and the awareness of conservation he raised in all of us, but two great, high achieving kids in Bindi and Robert.

hey hi Phil -- appreciate your insightful reply and sharing ... :)

I did not know of the gentleman but I pay him my respects. It is obvious he was a good man. I love nature and photographing the natural beautiful wonders. Thanks for sharing Keisha.

hey hi Michael -- lovely to see you here -- yes, he loved life and also he himself was full of life -- vim & vigour, too!

sure glad, Google has taken the kindness to honour his memory ...

we learn so much each day ... enjoy it all! ... :)

Happy birthday Steve. Rip.
His death saddened me.

hi Mickey -- appreciate you stopping by for a lil' visit -- yes, he loved life fully and lived life fully from the sounds of it! ... and he passed with Nature! ... peace be with you! ... :)

Us all here in Australia were sad at his loss. His children have grown up now. His daughter won the American dancing with the stars and the zoo is doing well. He was afraid of nothing. He went too soon.
Tom.

hey hi Tom -- yes, fearless! ... living & loving life fully! ...

thanks kindly for sharing with us here today,

all the best ... :)

I'll check it out Keisha. Thanks. Was Steve Irwin the man that inspired the movie Crocodile Dundee?

hey hi Teri -- yes, please do check it out -- i think Crocodile Dundee was an earlier version inspired by an Australian rancher in the Outback? ....

appreciate your interest and do kindly let us know of what you find -- cheerio ... :)

No. Crocodile Dundee was filmed in the 80's and Crikey didn't get known until the 90's.

"Today's Google Doodle acknowledges the life and achievements of my husband Steve Irwin, whose efforts to protect wildlife and wild places have been recognized as the most extensive of any conservationist,' wrote Irwin's wife Terri in a blog post for Google."

Thanks for sharing, Keisha.
