This post is just to touch base a bit as I haven't posted in since last month -- just been rather distracted with more vital and pressing offline world issues shall we say ...

In the proverbial search for inspiration to spur one onward and upward, I came across a saying by someone who opined that Saturdays are mighty days!

β€œSaturday is the mightiest day of the week.

It’s unshakably, overwhelmingly superior.

Not only is it a day off of school,

but the following day is also a day off. . . "

Good to see you -- hope all is well.

I have been snowed in for a couple of days. They finally dug me out yesterday afternoon. I got to go to the store, yay! Of course, it was nearly bare because we haven't had a grocery boat for a couple of weeks. However, we get by. Just missing some fresh stuff at present.

I schedule work seven days a week, but do leave some spaces here and there for break-time or other activities. Haven't seen a real week-end in a few years!

... you, too, dear Fran!! ...

    brrr-rr -- snow -- too much of a good thing, yes?! .... lol ....

glad you're doing ok for provisions -- has there ever been a time when stock ran so low that things were out for a while? ...

yes, you're right, perhaps it's time over due to enjoy a real vacation!!

with everything kinda topsy-turvey around the world -- how are we supposed to take a world cruise? ... lol ...

anyway, keep well & keep warm ... Spring will be arriving soon!

Keep telling me that info about spring! I'm guessing it will be mid- to late-summer before all this snow disappears.

Drat! Hate putting off my world cruise yet again! Meanwhile, doing fine. Freezer is full. Actually, a couple of years ago, I bought a year's supply of freeze-dried stuff that's good for 25 years...so will not run out of food.

Once, when I lived in Kodiak, the SeaLand company went on strike, and the boats that delivered our food could not deliver. For a good month, the only produce we had was onions and potatoes.

    .... lol .... ya, there goes our world cruises ... πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ€£ ....

geez, good to know -- about a whole month without deliveries ...

that's a helpful tip to work with -- for those -- just in case times ...

and we are living in 'funny times' so to speak ....

freeze-dried foods-- uhm --- need to look into that ---

keep well, dear Fran ... and keep warm ... :))

Good to see you. Hope things are okay with you.

... things are tick-tocking along ... some days are better than others of course ... we'll get through this all together ...

... as we know, the world is in a funny place right now --pivotal in fact ... so we just thank our lucky stars! ....

blessings to you for warmth & perfect health ... keep on rockin' 'n rollin' with the music ... :))

I have to agree that Saturday is my favourite day of the week dear friend!

Obviously there is still work to be done.. but it does take a back seat on such days of the week..!

We managed a leisurely 3 hour run/stroll around a wooded park area on the outskirts of the city here today.. about 18km according to the wife's phone app.. but the post pup must have done at least 25km!!

Visitors have just unexpectedly arrived.. so catch up in a bit dear Keisha!!

    πŸ€—πŸ₯©πŸ₯—πŸ·

    .... yes, do enjoy a super Saturday! ... πŸŒΌπŸ€—πŸŽ΅πŸ₯©πŸ₯—πŸ₯‚ ...

    I did indeed dear friend...

I hope you enjoy a splendid Sunday as well!

    πŸ€—πŸŒžπŸŽˆπŸ·

    ... 🌼 ...

I agree that Saturday is the mightiest day of the week. Although Sundays are a day of rest, Saturdays are reserved for fun and no work.

But I wonder if raking leaves, yard work or gardening are considered work or fun? πŸ€”πŸ‚ πŸ‚

    Isaiah 😊

*** uhm ... outdoor gardening, raking or yard work in February?! .... lol ....

loved getting all the leaves and bagged back in November!!

sure, Isaiah, Saturday is whatever you want to make it for YOU! ... and sure, we can rest Sunday ...

as for yard clean up -- leaving that for a wee bit later in the Spring when the garden hose can be installed (from freezing) ... well that's the plan ...

    enjoy a wonderful super Saturday and Sunday .... cheerio .... :)) ***

You're right, Keisha. No more mention of yard work in February.

I'll make some time today for my favorite beverage β˜• β˜• while tickling the ivories. 🎹 🎢

    Hope you enjoy your Saturday!

.... yes, indeed, enjoy a great cuppa java or two ... β˜•β˜• ....

    and happy to hear you're ticklin' the ivories ... 🎹🎡 ... :))

    Hi, Keisha

    Great Post!

I love the weekend. It stands apart as special, even when I have to work. This weekend I am off and will make the most of it.

Your photo brought back a long-lost memory. The chemistry professor I was assigned to for my senior project back in my college days made his coffee that way.

Drip coffee makers weren't being used in the home yet, so he made his own "lab version" with an Erlenmeyer flask, a porcelain Buchner funnel, and Whatman-grade qualitative filter paper (see attached image), complete with hot plate.

I refused to drink coffee out of that dirty thing, which hadn't been cleaned since the day he assembled it. Years later, I ran into him, and he was still using it!

    Enjoy your weekend! 😊
    Frank

    *** Awesome reply, Frank! ... 🎡 ...

Funny of how our memory is triggered by something?! ...
that's quite a story of your professor's 'scientific' habits ... guess while he may have been an excellent chemist ... if he only knew something about 'micro-biology' ... that may have made him stop using the 'dirty thing' ... lol ... well if he's still alive and kickin' then it's likely all ok for him ...

Ah yes, drip coffee maker -- i recall the glass Melitta ones with the filter sitting on top and pouring hot water over the grounds ...

well, these days i use the French press with fresh ground organic coffee beans ... much richer taste! ... just do this once in a while ...

    well, here's to old-fashioned beakers! ....

enjoy a super Saturday and Sunday, cheerio .... :)) ***

Sounds like my Army Coffee mug! It looked like a clogged artery, Frank, but NOBODY dare needs to mess with a Vet's coffee cup! The taste from the coffee in that thing took YEARS to perfect!

I remember an ex-wife of mine gave up trying to wash it, and chunked it in the trash! I almost keeled over right then and there!

It took me many more years to perfect the one that I use now, and I never leave it unattended! 🀣😹

    Have an excellent day!

    Jeff

*** that's hilarious, Jeffoi ! ... perfecting the 'taste' off the cup! ...

    really?! ... truly?! ... is that a 'thing?!' ... lol ... :)) ***

Yes, and I didn't know anything about microbiology back then. I was in college getting my bachelor's in chemistry but it still made me take a step back when I saw it.

Some people are super-smart but only in one direction. This guy could not understand my reluctance to join him in a cup of brew from his filthy contraption. 😊

My mother used a glass Melitta for years. It made great coffee. We have a French press but we very seldom use it. We are usually rushing out of the house with K-Cup coffee in a travel mug.

I know what you mean, Jeff. Some things are just better left alone!

I loved taking care of patients at the Providence Veterans Hospital back in the day when I was training. We would all rotate through there for two months of the year.

Those guys were so tough that nothing bothered them and always grateful for my help! I was a tremendous clinical experience. 😊

All my uncles on my mother's side were Army veterans and one of them was awarded a Purple Heart for bravery!

Thank You For Your Service, Jeff! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Awesome, Frank! I figure we're all going to die anyway, so I'd rather die happy! I've seen too many perfectly healthy people simply drop dead while running or doing some healthy thing!

I don't really worry too much about things. When my time is up, it is up--healthy or not.

I do get what you are saying though! After all, you are a doctor! I hear that doctors make the worst patients. Is that true?

    Jeff

yes, agree, Frank ... most 'doctorate or PhD-types' are rather uni-linear in the way they see the world -- perhaps even narcissistic?!

(in a previous life, used to 'hire and fire' some even 'double-doctorates PhDs in various subjects -- it turns out quite a number of them had traits that showed they simply couldn't do the work that was required)

likely your professor would have had a few quirks that would cast him socially indifferent perhaps ... imagine if he only had an ounce of understanding of micro-biology ... (crawlies!! .... lol ... )

anyway, coffee needs to be made under at least 'clean' conditions as it carries oils and the coffeepot should be cleaned after each use versus stacking up the oils? ....

and yes, using a French press takes a bit more time and more clean-up ... so an auto coffee maker would be better for time efficiency ....

uhm ... haven't seen glass Melitta makers in a long time -- wonder if they're still made and on the market? ... dunno ...

well, enjoy your leisurely super Saturday ... β˜•β˜•β˜• πŸͺπŸͺπŸͺ ...

Preventative healthcare is a good thing but you also have to be able to enjoy the things you like in life.

I wouldn't tell my patients you can "never" eat this or drink that because it's unrealistic and my word would only lose credibility.

Adherence to recommended clinical guidelines the majority of the time is what seems to work best.

I don't know if I'm the worst patient but I tend to self-diagnose and self-treat a lot. There's an old saying: "A doctor that treats himself (or herself) has a fool for a patient." πŸ₯Ί

Yeah, there are a lot of interesting characters in the world and I'm probably one of them - a rock n' roll doctor?? I come from a very down-to-earth, non-academic family, and my personality generally reflects that.

You can never be too careful when it comes to keeping food and beverage preparation devices and containers clean!

I'm pretty sure you can get a Melitta maker on eBay.

yes, a paradox of the highest order for these paradoxical times that we're living in ... or is that oxymoronic times? ...

anyway, just off on a wee tangent -- Truckers Rock 'n Rule! ... that's a new saying of recent days ...

and for Docs ' Rock and Cure' would be better!! ...

what do you say to that or think of that? ...

and back to eating containers -- yes. it's been known that utensils can be fomites or carriers of Hep. A. for example ... so as they say "Cleanliness is next to Godliness!" ... now where did that saying originate from? ... uhm ...

then on the other hand, if we've grown too accustomed to 'sterile environments' then our immune system hasn't met their match and would respond to what is needed .... isn't that why as kids we needed to go outside to play in the sandbox or dirt?! ... lol ...

ok ... i'm outside to play ... on the beach! ...

    cheerio ... :))

Haha, Frank! The lawyers have a saying like that too--ends up with a fool for a client!

    Jeff

Most of the Docs I know enjoy smooth jazz, and so don't I. They would probably reject the "rock doc" image. 😊

Yes, the all important "microbiome," that keeps our immune systems at the ready. Viral threats are more difficult to deal with because of inherent response latencies in T Cell immunity.

The beach? That's great! have a super time! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

It is for a lot of us vets, Keishaoi!

ah well, Frank, like you've said -- we've got to live and live well -- each and every day .... it's a sure day in the future that we're all going to pass on ...

so best to enjoy it all now ...

    YOU Rock ON -- dear Doc !! ... πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸŽ΅πŸŽΈ ... !
    'cuz YOU ROCK !! ... :))

yes, dear Jeffoi -- it's best to keep well and smile and feel happy each and every day to keep the 'cooties' away so to speak! ... lol ...

and yes, thank all Vets for their service and i feel that we as humanity can come together (if we decide to do good) ...
and we're seeing that now as what the Truckers have done -- so much outpouring of love, service, goodness, food galore for everyone! ... they're serving food for the homeless on the street and do clean sweeps and having garbage bagged off the sidewalks and streets ... so clean everywhere!!

anyway, yes, Vets are revered and respected -- lest we forget ....

and personally, from my perspective, at this stage of humanity can we please do something different and evolve for the better ... as war belongs in a museum ...

keep well in peace dear friend ... as we all need to have peace for our kids to grow up in and to evolve for the better ... :))

I’m a work hard, play hard kind of guy, and I love my guitars! 😊🎸🎸🎸😊

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday, Keisha! 😊😊😊

    yes, absolutely! ... rock on ... rock 'n roll ... lol ... :))

Thanks for the very kind words, Keishaoi!

We do need peace, but unfortunately with the way things are going in this world, there will be another war very soon, I'm afraid!

Have a nice evening and enjoy your new week!

    Jeffoi

    Time is flying by.
I absolutely loved that quote about Saturday, until I thought about it too long and it went kind of negative. I'm going to try not to do that. πŸ˜‚ It's like making lemons out of lemonade.

You seem like you are happy that you got all the offline business behind you for the week (or hopefully the bulk of it) !

*** yes, indeed, Craig, so right you are ... 'time is flying right by!'

can't seem to recall a time when time flew so fast? .. do u? ...

or has something changed and we just don't know about it? ...

anyway, glad you enjoyed the quote and yes, try not to 'over-think' things ... just accept and move onward & upward ...

    enjoy your super Saturday ... cheerio ... :)) ***

We must be having a lot of fun??

    ... yes, indeed, gotta have fun ... don't you?! ... lol ... :))

... there was one essential thing i had to do today and that was go to the hardware store to replace a tiny lightbulb for my desk lamp...

it was driving me crazy for a day or so ...

as luck would have it ... the store had three bulbs ... πŸ’‘πŸ’‘πŸ’‘ ... and the store-clerk said take them ... as they've got others on order ...

so now i've got two in stow for future burn-outs! ....

now how fun is that? ... lol ...

That is pretty fun, but you've got to stop having so much, if you want the time to slow down!

I do appreciate those seemingly little things, too. πŸ‘΄
