"Low Tech" Way To Show Blog Post Excerpt
Hi All,
Depending on your theme, your blog posts may be shown in full - though not for the "Hiero" theme as was used in the tutorials by Kyle.
Since I used another theme, I wanted to curtail the 'full' post and only show an excerpt.
There seem to be several ways (including using themes such as "Hiero") to only show post excerpts but I will describe the 'low tech' one as it was easiest for me. This Isco es via the "Insert the Read More Tag" button in WP.
To do this, the following steps:
Log into your site backend.
Go to Posts
Edit the Post
Go to a location in the post where you are happy that it shows enough info/sentences to show the excerpt (e.g. after the first paragraph).
Click on the button "Insert the Read More Tag" (highlighted below).
Do the same for all posts you want (not too many in my case - luckily).
The end result is a neater looking site i.e not showing the full post (again, only for those themes that do not automatically curtail a post i,e only show post excerpt like 'Hierro').
Hope that makes sense.
I wonder if the "Site Content" tool on WA can already incorporate uch a feature?
Take care.
