I am in the process of building my website and I don't know what META is on my sidebar. I would like to have a category over there that let'
most people remove the meta as its not really needed. sidebar usually has recent posts, categories, optin forms and links to other important posts

To link out from the sidebar would be the same way you do it within an article.
You would add a "text" box to the sidebar and copy the code there.
To get the correct code go to "new post" in the body of this new post write the anchor text you want to turn in to a link.
for example: Best Guitar Lessons Online
Highlight this text and then go to the top of the text editor and select "link". in here you would add the URL of the post/article/website you wish to link to.Select open in new window if thats what you desire.
You have just created a hyperlink.
Now go to the text view of the text editor and copy the code.
It should look like:
Best Guitar Lessons
Copy this code and paste it into the text box.
