My first experience with vibe coding

A week ago, I'd never heard the term "vibe coding" In fact, in the bootcamp session, when Kyle mentioned it, I had to play it back a couple of times and wasn't until I saw it in print that even understood what it's called.

At this point, after attending bootcamp session, rewatching it, reading a little about it, as per Kyle's instruction: "Explore the concept of vibe coding and brainstorm potential entrance point ideas for Wealthy

Affiliate promotions." And "Experiment with at least one vibe coding platform (e.g., Lovable) to prototype a simple survey or funnel-style app."

I have done what was asked, I think, but to be honest, I only vaguely understand the concept. I feel like I attended my first day of flight instruction and was shown how to fly a 747. None of the jargon makes sense to me. I'm more than a little confused.

BUT!

I followed the instructions and here's what I got:

From what I can see, I think it pretty accurately represents me based on the choices I made.

I'm not really sure where is the best and/or most effective way and place to utilize it.

Hey Robert,

Yes, technology can be a bit intimidating at first. Vibe coding is basically where you use AI to help you do most of the heavy lifting in programming/coding fully-fledged applications for real-world use.

You need to have at least a good understanding and a foundational background of programming and the logic thereof, to understand everything better. Also, you need to be able to guide the AI to fix bugs in your app so that it is error free.

We prefer using Cursor, Lovable, and Replit for our vibe coding. It can be very powerful and you can create almost any software app with it. From websites to web applications, platform applications, and much more.

Thanks for the explanation. It simply confirms what I was already thinking/saying. I don't have a clue. It's all way over my head at this point. Perhaps that will change in due time.

If you have any questions, I am happy to help guide you. I know your main niche is teaching, but you could ultimately build an app to help your students flourish in their language learning journey and you could charge for that.

We already use AI to help us teach our students, and it has been a game-changer.

I need all the help I can get. What do you teach? Maybe we can meet on Zoom?

I don't do well on camera, I wouldn't say that I am shy but I have my personal reasons why.

We have been creating online courses for a long time, it can be a great passive income. Sometimes they go stale, if you know what I mean... Other times you have courses that consistently generate income for a longer period, sometimes much longer. Like evergreen but not quite.

We are also busy expanding with a whole new plan. We teach everything that is on my bio here, and more and in more detail... Like sub-niches of those main ones.

I haven't developed any online courses but I have developed a lot of lessons that are making me a few $. That's my only regular, albeit not that much, online income. Yes, I know what you mean. I don't know what help you're offering but I'm interested. Developing online courses is something that's been on my bucket list. I just have not pursued it yet, no excuses. The bottom line is, the online world is confusing to me and I often feel like one of the "slow kids", if you know what I mean.

That is great, now you can expand more on those things. I have micro courses, mini courses, and more comprehensive flagship courses about various things in different niches.

Decent high-quality online courses is the way to go these days. Even more powerful is if you can offer live support and answer questions in some kind of a community with a paid subscription. Don't let it intimidate you, just keep studying courses to help you achieve your goals. Whatever you want to learn, there is an online course for it.

1

I don't necessarily feel intimidated, although intimidation is definitely part of it. I feel more overwhelmed than anything else. I'm not sure what do most of the time. ChatGPT helps a lot. All the training offered at WA, the help people like yourself offer, and the many outside resources available are all great-no problem there. I have trouble making sense of it all. I like to be able to simply things into bite-size chunks, but I haven't found a way to successfully do that in a profitable manner. Thanks for your response.

1

I forgot to ask. When you say "expand more on those things", can you give me one or more examples?

1

What are you struggling with that is overwhelming and how do you want it to fit together exactly?

1

I mean expand more on those things you mentioned. Make courses with all your knowledge, experience, and skills. Get your YouTube channel on fire with a lot of helpful content. You could follow Lucy and others alike, to get inspiration from their channels and how they do things.

It will/would take too long to explain here but to summarize it, it's totality of it all. I often feel lost and unsure of what to do and/or how to do it. I'm often unsure where to turn or what to ask. I want to retired from the school district, teach English online and help seniors with healthy living and making money online. The last part is my missing link. Overall, my online presence is not consistent or effective enough and that is where I feel overwhelmed.

Thanks for asking.

Ok, you need to lay out what you have already and where you want to be. Then work on a plan to bridge the gap, one step at a time. We could discuss it in more detail via PM if you like and if you have time.

1

Yeah, I feel more comfortable discussing privately pending the amount of time you have. I have limited time but I can always find some time to head in the right direction. I'm not sure what part of the world you're in. I'm in CA. The time I have is in the afternoon and during the weekends. You will hear from me via PM. Thanks.
Bob

1

We can discuss via PM, it doesn't have to be in real time. Whenever I get online I can respond and the same for you. We are in S.A. at the moment.

1

Got it.

1

Yes, I just threw Lovable onto my first post of my new website and then added some of my experiences around it. That was just to get some kind of start for the website. MAC.

1

Same here.

Nice one! :)

I can totally relate - I had no idea what Kyle was talking about and I think my brain sort of shut down. I am still in the process of finishing Week 1 so I decided to listen to Week 2 again later. Your post is very interesting - it gives a good idea what Kyle was talking about and I can imagine it may be really useful.

Kyle mentioned 'at least one vibe coding platform'. I don't know of any.

Did you use 'Lovable'?? And how long (roughly) did it take you?

1

Yes, I used Lovable because Kyle was using it and I was blindly following along. I didn't/don't know any better. There will probably come a time when/where I begin to understand the concept and will be able to personalize it and make it my own.
Bob

1

Thanks - I will do the same.

I can resonate with this. I still don't get it and thought this is because I was traveling and did not attend the live class. I just watched the class a few times, but I have to do so until I understand; maybe. Thanks for sharing.

2

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who doesn't get it. On the other hand, I'm starting to see that this is the kind of thing that points to the value of being part of a community. All of us who are in the dark about this can help each other to find the light. Meanwhile, we have someone who can show us the way and help us understand.

Bob

Sure, let's follow the lessons and share our understanding along the way.
