The Zombie Generation
It blows my mind how the new generation ( Z I suppose) is so technology hungry, from three year olds and up.
Who remembers the days before google or computers?, although I must admit I am a millennial, I do remember those days. I grew up in a home that had one computer with those big bulky desktop screens and floppy disks. When I could do the dishes during an ad break on TV. Right now it almost felt as if it was magical.
I miss those days when everything seemed innocent, playing outside and road trips were pillows, snacks and blankets. An IPod for good music if you were lucky and families could actually have a full on interactive conversation with laughs and debates. All the book lovers will understand me when I say the smell of a newly bought book and bent pages at the end of it. Although we still have books and book shops you have to admit they are slowly dying out.
What hit me hard was when we got in the car and before we could even leave the driveway the kids were screaming and freaking because they had lost WiFi connection. Whatever happened to singing songs and my favorite part - taking naps. For some reason, I just loved car rides because I had the best, coziest sleep ever. Of course that is different now that I am a few feet taller and probably would not fit into a car seat if I tried.
Kids Zombie out and glue themselves to their phones. It makes it impossible to have a conversation.
We're all addicted to the convenience of internet, phones, laptops, and mobility as adults but Generation Z has been consumed, they refuse to take walks or enjoy fun places like parks and the beach. What is preferred is a couch, phone and internet or else the world is coming to an end.
If I can't have a phone then give me a TV with YouTube on it they say.
Even a 3-year old knows to scream "SKIP THE COMMERCIAL!!!"
