Affiliate Links That Seem Odd

In conducting some more training today, I'm getting frustrated with some of the affiliate programs for pet clothing that I'm finding. I signed up for Petco over a week ago and they still haven't approved my application - what takes so long to help them market their products? Either they want the free marketing, or they don't.

Then, I found another one - AvantLink and they want me to post a random verification link on the homepage to my site.....That looks very unprofessional and odd to have a random post on my homepage for them to verify it. How long does it take? Will I have a random AvantLink URL on the homepage of my site for a week? Longer? I don't like the looks of that when I tried it and looked at my site and there it was, just a random link in a post on the front page of my site.

Then I went to dog,com and they say to fill out a form on their website, but when you click on what's supposed to be a link to the form, it's nothing. So I searched their site everywhere for this supposed form and it's not able to be filled out online. Some of these affiliate links on these sites are a joke. Do they not realize that I'm trying to help them by promoting their items on my site free for them?

Has anyone had any issues with getting affiliate links? Amazon was a breeze, Bitch New York was a breeze; so what's the deal with these others? It's starting to get very frustrating to me and honestly I'm prowling now for any sites that I can get affiliates right away vs looking for the ones that are actually quality looking items to promote. That's not where I wanted my site to go in the first place. I want to promote items I would shop for for my pets, not any cheap items simply because I can be an affiliate immediately.

I'm withe Stephen on this Katrina...
You know that not all fingers on one hand are the same only my experience is the same as yours as I suspect it is for all!!
Our previous experience is entrenched in high standards which baffles when it comes to such a tawdry response however you girls are fond of the saying you have to kiss many frogs to find the prince guess its definitely the case here!!

Stay safe and take care.. keep at it as we also have an advantag more than most in the tie up arrangement terms...:)

Hi Katrina. It would be my feeling that if somebody can't present their sales opportunity to you professionally what is the rest of their service going to be like. I'd keep looking.
Have a great day.
Stephen.

Thank you Stephen, I agree 100%. I basically passed on several sites claiming they offered affiliate programs and moved on. I have just a couple for now, but I'm sure with more traffic, I'll get more affiliates.

Thanks for the advice!

Katrina

Wow, I've never heard of anything like that. Although I am still very new so maybe that's why but it seems fishy to me. Can there be that many people applying that they take that long to get back to you? I doubt it. Very odd.

I hope you get it sorted. I'm sure it must be very frustrating and I don't blame you for being annoyed.

All the best
Melissa

Have you tried ShareASale? In 'Dog Accessories' they have 64 merchants.

I recently signed up with ShareASale and am promoting just a few programmes, so I don't have a lot of experience with them. However, I believe they are worthwhile taking a look at.

The programmes I did sign up for took a short while (no more than two days) to approve my website.

I hope you soon find a suitable programme, Katrina.

All the best,
Valerie

Hi Valerie,
Yes, ShareASale is one of the sites that I recently signed up for. The only thing with that one is you have to sign up for each merchant individually, and there were only a few for pets.

That one didn't cause me any problems. The Avant one did though and they said that I didn't have enough traffic on my site to be approved yet. Ugh.

I'll keep trying. It was just frustrating the other day.

Thank you for your advice!!

You're very welcome, Katrina.

I do hope you have more success in finding suitable affiliate programmes.

I don't know the age of your site or how much content is on it, but I do encourage you to keep creating and publishing content based on keywords that people are searching. This will help to attract visitors to your site.
