5 Benefits I've Gained From Having Self-Confidence In Business
Since starting here at WA only a month or so ago, I can't even tell you how much my self-confidence has grown. The community here at WA is just so amazing and full of awesomeness that it's hard not to build your confidence up as you engage and learn new things with every log in.
I've pinned down 5 benefits that I've found to having more self-confidence in business since starting here at WA which has really helped with my progress. They are:
1. You'll make decisions faster and change them slower
How long do you see-saw on something before making a decision? Be honest. It's hard to make a decision quickly and then sticking by it without changing it is even harder. But, by building your confidence you will be able to quickly make decisions, stand by them and follow them through to the end. It may sound stubborn, but actually, it's just like setting a goal and accomplishing it.
Think of it like this, if you set goals and always changed them and never accomplished them then what's the point of even setting them? It's the same with decisions. Trust yourself and your ability to make accurate decisions and then stick by them.
Of course, if you see something catastrophic up ahead as a result of your decision, change it, but with time and belief in your abilities, you'll notice that you actually do a pretty good job at making good decisions. When you start seeing the accomplishments from those initial decisions, you'll feel more confident in taking that leap with some bigger decisions in the pipeline.
2. You'll take safe risks even if you're unsure of the outcome
You'll start to see the benefits of not overthinking things too much and you'll trust yourself to make good judgments when a "risk" (or maybe more like an opportunity!) presents itself. I think this statement is really about trusting your gut and knowing that if things don't work out quite right you've got the skills and the mindset to deal with the challenges that may arise. To a negative thinker new things seem like a risk but to a positive thinker, new things seem like opportunities!
For instance, a good friend approaches you to join them in a new business idea. Rather than hum and ha about it for a week you either will recognize it as a good idea and say "what the heck, I'm in" or you won't and you'll say "it's not right for me right now".
It's an amazing feeling to trust yourself. Practice it now with some simple opportunities.
3. You'll accept feedback rather than getting defensive
At WA, our community has an opportunity to give and receive feedback on their websites and articles. It's a really, really great benefit to the community. After all, if you're doing it on your own from a 7-day email course on 'how to start a blog' how are you to know if what you're writing is insightful, helpful and interesting without someone telling you? Or, what if your theme, layout, and pictures are all wrong for your post?
With confidence in yourself and in your business, it's really beneficial to be able to receive feedback without getting on the defense about what's been said. You need to be able to accept constructive feedback and be willing to make changes based on what you've been told.
4. You'll put yourself out there even if you're still a bit scared
This is a biggie. It's scary to click that 'Publish' key when you've written something that you care about - what if everyone hates it? Ugh. But, in time, with building confidence it'll be easier with every page published or product marketed.
By developing confidence, you'll start saying, "I know what I've written (or sold, or advertised, etc) has been done with honesty and integrity" and as long as you've done that then you really have nothing to fear.
5. You'll believe your pep talks with enthusiasm
When you're feeling a bit down in the dumps you'll learn to give yourself effective pep talks. As you develop confidence in yourself you'll naturally start telling your subconscious mind things that make you feel better - because you've changed from a negative to a positive thinker!
The best thing is that you'll actually really start to believe in your own pep talks and it's not just something you're rambling to yourself because you're learning how to be positive and change your thinking. You've already done the hard part and now you can reap the benefits of being positive and confident. Get excited about what you tell yourself! It's all good and true :)
So, start to build your confidence up today ...
I know it's hard. I've been down the same path as you. It's new, it's scary. And, now ... I have to believe in myself too and be confident in myself?! It can seem like too much. But, you're worth it. Your ideas and your business are worth it. What you have to say needs to be heard. Go it slow, build it up. Start with a foundation. Practice the 5 benefits of having self-confidence in business slowly in your everyday life and then gradually you won't have to work at it ... you'll just have it. How good will that feel?

Some of us have improved due to time spent here and the training; Others by watching/reading/visiting other's blogs/sites and the conversations that help everyone who reads them!
