Using Ad Inserter to Create a Disclosure Statement on Every Post

I learned a new trick today - see the cover photo for my fancy disclosure link! :) I thought it might be helpful to some of the other newbies in the group to learn as well.

One thing I've learned here at Wealthy Affiliate is that you have to be clear and up-front in disclosing any affiliate relationships with companies. And Amazon, in particular, wants things done a certain way!

So I created the standard affiliate disclosure policy page per Kyle's template (SO helpful!) but also wanted an easy way to automatically include a disclosure statement and link on every single post without having to think about it.

Enter: Ad Inserter.

I've heard of the Ad Inserter plug-in while researching Amazon native ads (which I have yet to fully dive into) but didn't realize it could be used in this way.

Here is my step-by-step guide for creating your own disclosure statement on every post using Ad Inserter:

1. Install the Ad Inserter plug-in by going to your Wordpress website dashboard. Click Plug-ins on the left. Then click "Add new" and search for Ad Inserter. Once you've installed it, you will need to click "activate". Then click "settings" and head to step 2.
   
   
   
2. Copy and paste this text into the black box.
   <em> YOUR DISCLOSURE LANGUAGE. </em>
   (The "em" puts it in italics. You can leave them off if you want.)
   If you want to link to your disclosure page:
   <a href="YOUR LINK HERE">HYPERLINK TEXT</a>.
   Obviously replace my placeholders with your content.
   
   
   
   
3. Make sure "posts" is toggled. I chose to insert my disclosure "before content". And I decided to use custom CSS settings to change the style slightly. I had to fiddle with these to make it work with my theme - I didn't want the disclosure too close to the actual post, for example, so it's clear that it is a separate section.
   
   
   

My own disclosure! I am a total newbie at this - but found it pretty easy and helpful. I hope this will get you started or trigger some ideas for staying compliant!
