Starting Fresh With a Clean Plate
So I turned away from online marketing and started selling advertising from home. I built an online community group for moms in my local city and sold advertising on the site. I also began a big community event held on a regular basis at which I sold vendor tables. On top of that I was trying to get an MLM off the ground, which ended up being a dud company that still owes me $$$ a year later.
So recently I couldn't take it anymore. For all the work I was doing I was still making under $1500 per month, hardly helping my family financially and feeling under constant pressure. Accountable to so many people, always a "To Do" list as long as my arm. I was hating getting up in the morning.
So I began to look for an online answer again. I rejoined WA and started the 30-day. And also in the meantime I have been wrapping up all my other projects. Tomorrow I have another one of my events, which will be the last one until Sept now as I cancelled some intermediate ones... Come Monday I will be able to turn all my focus to my Affiliate Marketing. I'm so excited and relieved.
I wonder how much I'd be making now if I had stuck it out 3 years ago, but cannot think like that. I've cut off all alternate choices now so I am here this time for the long haul. I look forward to getting to know everyone and to giving and receiving as part of this awesome community. It's going to be great.

Welcome back Karrilee! The question that you asked yourself "I wonder how much I'd be making now if I had stuck it out 3 years ago" is one that many people wonder. Sticking things out and making the decision to educate yourself is sometimes a tough one. With so many "OPPORTUNITIES" out there it's hard to focus. I say "opportunities" in quotes because there because most of the products and "shiny objects" you see out there won't teach you a thing and will only get in the way of your success online.
You've come back to WA and seem very focused on sticking with things this time. That alone is a huge achievement. Over the past weeks I've been on a mission to help people clear the clutter, get off those GURU lists, forget about every shiny object that make it into your inbox and focus on the task at hand... BUILDING AN ONLINE BUSINESS.
Now is your time to benefit from the Open Education Project. Learn from the people here, use the tools, and most importantly be confident in your decision to focus on your education in Internet marketing and online business. Very happy to have you here and I look forward to working with you.

Would you mind critiquing my blog for me? Also I was wondering if there is still someone as the go-to person for help/advise promoting WA or do we just bring all our questions to the open forum now? Hey Karrilee, nice job on getting your website started! I do have a few suggestions that I'd like to make at this time.
1 - I'd like to see a different Wordpress Theme that gives you more width. Currently there is a lot of scrolling down the page and this is simply to do with the limited width the current theme has.
2 - Choosing a theme with a smaller font size will make it look a little more professional. Large font is sometimes associated with content for the younger crowd and it can be difficult to read since you have to scroll so much.
3 - Kyle and I started Internet marketing in 2002 when we were both 21 yrs old. We started Wealthy Affiliate University in 2005 and were 24 at the time :)
4 - One angle that I like to see while promoting WA is to talk about what internet marketing is, how online business works, what kind of options are available to teach people. You could even offer a few tips as you learn them. The angle that you've taken to create a site that has WealthyAffiliate in the domain name may confuse people as you talk about it. They may feel that you are referring to your own website when you say Wealthy Affiliate. I might suggest choosing a domain name that does not have Wealthy Affiliate in it and focusing on teaching people something about Internet marketing. You can certainly have a page (or many) dedicated to a review about WA, but the goal should be on teaching people what internet marketing is and how it works.
People who come to your website will most likely already know about Wealthy Affiliate, if that is your audience then you can certainly keep going with this angle but if you're wanting to introduce WA to new people then I suggest making the adjustments above.
5 - WA really isn't a "MONEY MAKING SCHEME" so images or banners with money in them may not be the image you want to portray. I realize that banner is one of the ones available here at WA in the affiliate area but it's very old and may not be something you want your visitors to see when they first hit your page.
6 - Your 10 day get started buttons will be less effective than links that are within your content so I suggest removing them. What you want to do is offer TONS of great content to your visitors where they can learn something about the topic they came to your site for. You can then link on phrases within your content directly to WA.
I guess the main theme to my suggestions is that your site is SELLING WA, where you want to take out the selling and offer people valuable content that will hep them. Your goal is to have people stick around on your site for as long as possible and currently the time on site will be very low. Content could be written to inform people.. when they are engaged in reading your content you can drop links and they will get clicked on at a higher rate than flashy buttons with arrows etc.
So, at this point there are some decisions to be made! You can certainly keep a lot of your content because you can use it on a page on your site dedicated to "Wealthy Affiliate University". However my suggestion is to change your way of thinking and stop selling!

Thanks for bloggin this gives me so much hope for myself. Like you I have been following a similar path, but I am saying goodbye to that. As long as you are determined and work hard you will succeed :)
