I start with and SEO plugin. You can choose. All in One or Yoast. I dont think it matters. Then take a look at W3 total Cache. Akismet to filter spam comments. Google Analytics +. Google XML Sitemaps.All In One Schema.org Rich Snippets. Display Widgets.
A word of warning. The more plugins you load the fatter, bloated and slower your site code gets and google hates slow sites. If you offer good content on a keyword and your competition offers the same value but your site is slow. Guess who gets the #1 position.
