What motivates you?

So today I was catching up with an old friend and we had a discussion about our short term and long term plans and what we would like to accomplish in life. Picturing how life would look if we manifested everything we set out to do he asked me "what motivates you to want to achieve this life"?

Before answering the question I paused and said to myself "I won't tell him everything because I'll be talking for hours but I'll give him a short list of things that motivate me".

I went on to tell him there's three things I'll die a happy man doing if I'm able to accomplish:

1. Create generational wealth. Unfortunately most of us are not born into rich families. I have seen a lot of people go to university so they can get a degree in hopes of landing a great job to create generational wealth but before they can start that journey they are usually in debt which can cause stress, depression and things that can affect your health (based on the conversations I've had with people).

I wouldn't want my family to experience anything of this nature especially when their intentions are pure. Tragic things do happen but unfortunately that is life in general, but if I have created wealth I'll be in a great situation in support for my loved ones were they can avoid the effects of negative health issues. I know money isn't everything but you can't do anything without it.

2. Live an exciting life as if I was a child again. I'm very positive if anyone of us could go back in time and live a day as a child again we would it, I know I would. Sometimes we look back on school-days or playing in the neighborhood and wish we could just have one more day of it, unfortunately we can't go back and relive those memories but that doesn't mean we can't create new ones where we can look back 20 years from now and have the exact same feeling.

As adults, we get caught up doing so much mainly due to responsibilities (and the fear of being homeless haha) we sometimes don't make quality time to do things we truly love doing. I like adventure and excitement much like a kid and despite being an adult I strongly believe everyone still has a bit of that same child in them that they would love to let free if given the right opportunity. I hope this isn't just me lol.

3. Help others that are in need. I know we have all helped someone that isn't grateful for your efforts and it can make you think "I'm never helping anyone again", it's happened to me a few times but this is the wrong attitude to have as it eliminates you helping others that will genuinely show appreciation and most importantly need the help.

One thing that made me want to help others is seeing the amount of homeless people when I visited New York city back in December 2018. It was one of my best holidays but I left feeling a bit of guilt because I wasn't in a position to help put them back on their feet.

I know the feeling of needing a helping hand and when given it's a warm reminder that there are still good people in this world.
