The internet and me by theuns victor
Ever since I purchased my first personal computer back in 1990 I dreamt of one day be able to reach people all over the world and to be of service. Back then communication on line was limited. You had the billboards and a very limited number of forums were available to an exclusive community. I have been blessed since then to be able to analyse the potential of what is now known as the internet or the web back then already.
However I am not a man with a lot of higher learning behind me and did not believe that I had the ability to compile a website that could do what I wanted it to do and with money being an issue I also could not afford to get someone to do that for me.
When the first online business hit the internet by ways of a properly compiled website in October of 1994 I realized that I had missed a golden opportunity and had then made peace with the fact that I would never be able to utilize this enormous potential.
Then came 1995 and Microsoft launched it's new windows platform which we all know today as Windows 95. I read Bill Gate's book, "The Road Ahead" and I realized that his vision was exactly what I had seen 4 years earlier. However I still considered myself unable to make use of this as I did not have the knowledge to write the HTML code that was the thing at the time used to create websites.
I continued with my occupation and had spent a large amount of time familiarising myself with computers and the software created to do basic things and started utilizing dBase III to teach myself some simple programming but my passion and hankering to utilize the internet for a base to operate and manage my own online business were always there and in the quiet I never gave up my dream of becoming an online business person.
When early retirement was forced upon me about a year ago through the policies of the so-called democratic ANC government in South Africa I came to realize that I, (1) was not ready for old age and to sit and wait to grow old and die, (2) I could still fulfill my dream about becoming an online business man and (3) that it actually, with modern technology the way it is today, isn't that difficult to create a website today and eventually become a successful online marketer.
This process however wasn't very easy though and went with a lot of pain and frustration as I just couldn't find what I was looking for. I needed a base that was simple and easy to utilize and understand and that would not have a huge initial capital outlay. Little did I know that there are a lot of places where you could go to start out with no or minimum cost.
I tried out a few options but without success or without the potential of really giving me what I want which was to be able "To Live My Life on My own Terms" . Some of these options also cost me money that I did not really have to throw away.
Then in October 2015 I got a link to an organization that made a lot of things clearer and also gave me the opportunity to see for myself that creating websites and sending traffic to those websites was not at all, all that difficult and the dozing dream became a reality. However the dream was suddenly shattered when I ran an exclusive campaign and had to realize 2 days later that the organization who hosted the platform had hacked into my website and hijacked my site. The revenue that was supposed to be coming my way as well as the subscriptions of visitors were hijacked and rerouted and in the process my two partners and I that was in this project together lost between $60,000 and $70,000 in revenue. This was a great shock and I immediately cancelled my subscription, deleted all my funnels and de-activated the domains that was registered with them. When integrity is involved in any situation I just can't be part of that any longer.
Obviously the next question was, "What happens now?" The entire process started all over and I was back in March 2016 where I started off in October 2015. I have in the meantime found a site that can host me and have created a website where I can partially achieve what I have set out to do. It is going very slow at this time and $$$ are not rolling in yet.
When I got the introduction to WA I was pleased and I am thankful to say that from what I have seen so far I think I have found what I was searching for. It took me some time though to get started due to some personal issues that had to be resolved.
To Kyle and Carson and the WA Community thank you for allowing this opportunity and for the way one is pulled into the community from the start. I have just started with the training yesterday and from what I have seen I am sure that we would have a long and prosperous road ahead.
In conclusion I leave with you my philosophy:
I believe that:
"Today is not my Final Destination but Simply a Beginning to a New Journey"

Wow, Theuns. Quite an ordeal you have been through. And you wrote it down so eloquently too.
You can rest assured, no one here is after your job, business or money. See we know we don´t need to be thieves to get ahead, as there is plenty opportunity to earn an honest income. Besides that, it´s exciting and fun too, to me at least.
Bon voyage!
Thank you Tezsie. It is encouraging to know that you are in a community where people can be trusted. I have a lot of faults but I can say with honour and dignity that the thing that I value more than my life is integrity and for that I have never been reprimanded in any way. Best of success to you as well and I truly hope that we will have a long relationship together in WA
Morning Theuns, I hear you on the integrity. There´s quite a bit of it here, which is refreshing.
Have a nice day. Be seeing ya!
This is one of the best stories/life experiences I have read here. I wish you all success!
