Mindset
Our minds are incredibly powerful and as humans we are quite resilient. The power of our mind can help us to overcome adversity and move forward to achieve our best. Sometimes however we might struggle. When we find ourselves in a position of not being able to overcome a difficult situation or event in our life it can be detrimental to our progress. Negative emotions can be overpowering and all-consuming.

I was reading through some information on understanding how our minds work and the affect that this can have on us. How allowing something bad to consume us can set us on the wrong path. Interesting that this article stated that most of our recollections of events are ‘stories’ (not to dismiss the fact truly devastating events can happen and can play a serious role in our mental well being).
A couple of points about recognising past events as ‘stories’...
WHO SAYS THEY ARE TRUE, ACCURATE & FACTUAL?
Most people have a different recollection of what took place. Two people who were a party to the some event can actually have a different version of the same ‘story’. Our [personality, past experiences, beliefes etc all play a role in how we view the world and events that take place around us.
WE KEEP STORIES ALOVE BY OBSESSING OVER THEM
Constantly repeating the ‘truth’ makes it feel authentic. It validates how we feel and allows us to continue feeling that we belong in a negative situation. That perhaps we don’t deserve better.
THE DISTORTION CONTINUES UNABATED
We don't just remember it as it was - we remember it as it was when we last remembered it.
That’s why most stories get exaggerated over time ala “the fish was thiiiiiiiiiis big…”
THE STORIES KEEP US AWAY FROM THE TRUTH OF OUR EXISTENCE IN THIS MOMENT
That truth is that we have everything we need (right now) to go to the next level.
The most common version of not embracing our daily potential to create miracles is that my growth lessons turn up disguised as problems - which I interpret in the light of my “story”. Therefore my story gets a massive sales job. Others who buy it - gather around to have a pow wow.
Every second spent on the story is both a waste of time and a reinforcement of it as the “truth”.
WHAT HAPPENED DOESN’T MATTER AS MUCH AS THE DECISION YOU MADE ABOUT YOURSELF IN THE LIGHT OF THAT HAPPENING.....
How you handle a situation and the decisions you make around that event define you as a person – the event doesn’t define you.
What does this have to do with WA? You are here. That means you are here for a reason. You have made a choice to part of something that has the potential to improve you as a person and your life. How you conduct yourself, what you choose to the do with the information and support available is entirely your choice. It doesn’t happen at the same pace for everyone – that is just life so don’t labor on it. Make the most of everything that is available, face the challenges head on and be part of a vibrant community that is all about giving. Success is there for those choose to overcome challenges and never give up.
