It's not about ME and it's not about YOU!

Hi there,

As a fairly new blogger I've been pretty busy, taking this course and that. I've learned lots of techie things and something equally, if not more, important, that I'd like to share here today.

I don't know about you, but I've always thought that blogs were about bloggers and what they had to say.

Not any more!

Most bloggers work extremely hard on their blogs. They produce posts that are well crafted and on trend. But there's something they may not know that is just as important, if not more!

No matter how brilliant a post may be, at the end of the day it's not about YOU and it's not about ME. It's all about our readers!

Articles and stories, no matter how well researched and beautifully written, are just words on a screen, until they are read by others. Our biggest challenge as bloggers is not mastering some new software or whiz bang plug-in. It's creating content that matters to others, is of interest to them and provides them with something of value. Those are the posts that evoke a response in readers and a desire for more.

Readers are out there. They're looking for blogs that entertain, enlighten and inform. It's our job, yours and mine, to learn as much as we can about their wants, their needs and the things they delight in and despair of.

Because it's not about me and it's not about you. It's all about THEM!
