Taking advantage of my existing website
I have decided to postpone creating my first siterubix site, as I already have a travel blog that I wish to monetize.
I did some quite extensive keyword research today and identified several niches that can complement my travel blog pretty well, as a result I will be creating like mini affiliate sites within my travel blog, so to speak (more like new categories of content).
After all, why start over from zero when you already have a website up and running that is already starting to get rankings here and there?
Soooo I will need to wait a little to get that first website badge but it's OK, I will get to it eventually, it's just a matter of weeks.

If you already have a site with traffic and good content then I think it sounds like a great idea to just learn to monetize that and not start all over.
You can also always move your domain to WA, if you at some point want some of the benefits hosting at WA has with your current website.
