Procrastination.any tips?!?
And so folks here it is...my guilty secret...I am seriously trying this year to improve my life yet I seem to fall foul of this act all too easily and quickly! I get to a certain stage and despite my enthusiasm and desire to move forward I stagnate. In fairness my two young children and working part-time play a part but I often gather articles showing ways on how to avoid falling into the procrastination trap and then I don't follow through and actually read the articles which might help me!! I'm not sure what to call that...except being slightly bonkers!! Anyhow...I'm back on the journey and travelling full steam ahead...wish me luck :-)

Hi Julie, procrastination is a human foible along with many other traits that seem to put the brakes on our successes.
Personally I try and make restistance my true north. That is to say when I catch myself coming up with an excuse real or otherwise, for not doing what I had planned to do, I make a concerted effort to activate my self taking baby steps towards achieving completion on whatever the chore or project is that needs to be done.
Not always easy I know.
Best wishes and welcome to WA
Marty
Thanks for the wise words Marty...I usually try and "eat my frog" first thing but I'm increasingly getting better at resisting...feel like I'm regressing sometimes until I shake it off and then I end up berating myself for succumbing in the first place ;-(

All too guilty myself I am afraid. I found a technique called pomodoro or something like that really helped. You work distraction free for 15 minutes then break for 5 and continue until you have done an hour and take a longer break. It got me in the habit of focusing for short periods of time and it is amazing what you can accomplish if you focus even in 15 minute blocks.
Just an idea to consider :-)
love it... thanks so much for this Gordon, will definitely investigate further, love that I can introduce this concept to my children too when tackling the "tidying the toys" on a weekly basis. Hopefully I can master this...:-)
