Fake It Till You Make It...
I am not certain I agree with this Fake It mentality, I mean, I want to be genuine. Does this mean I can't do anything with my business until I am an expert? Of course not, because if I wait that long, I won't make the little or big mistakes that will help me learn and grow. But right now I feel compelled to soak up as much as I can. I read other member blogs and trainings, I go to hangouts etc...I am still hearing jargon I am not familiar with, but no worries. Kyle and Carson, our fearless Wealthy Affiliate benefactors, had it rough in the beginning right? They learned a great many things before they brought us the WA!
Building Trust With Your Readers
Building trust is a necessity. Actually that goes without saying! It should be common sense as every relationship will go no place without trust first. Sure you want to look like the expert and you may be, but if you're not...well, this is where I am. I have an ethical and moral issue with passing myself off as an expert when I am not. I will get there though. I have been married twenty years and my children still like me as well, so I see no reason to take up practices that will instill a mistrust with anyone who reads my stuff by giving expert advice where the expertise doesn't exist. Honesty, Integrity.h
What I Will Do
I will be honest and offer what I feel to be good or relevant content even if someone else may disagree. You know what they say about opinions...though I have no problem asking for honest, helpful critiques, ideas or advice. If the trust is there, it's a two way street. Baby steps, I'm okay with that because I will go back to my blog archives years from now and smile as I remember the growing pains I went through. I will also remember the Wealthy Affiliate family that helped me to get to the peak. What a climb it will be! I don't always have my "ideal" day at the keyboard but you have to take the good with the bad so there is balance and I am wearing my sea legs!

I agree that you shouldn't pass yourself off as an expert but I think you need to FEEL successful even if you're not yet. Wonder where that saying came from anyway. Just keep doing what you're doing and I'm sure you'll make it.

Jules, great article. I fell that is why so many are here at the Wealthy Affiliate, due to so many fake or misleading ways to make in this style of business. In our present environment, no one can afford to not be honest to the customer. Honesty as they say is the best policy.
