Laughter - the drug-free natural 'high'

So Christmas and the New Year celebrations have been and gone and we are back to reality with a bump! The credit card bills are starting to come in and it seems as though there is nothing to look forward to. The nights are long and the days are cold and everyone seems to have colds and flu.

So what can you do to make yourself feel a little better? LAUGH! It costs nothing and releases a range of 'feel-good' hormones, known as endorphins into the brain. Laughter is such an important element to helping you feel sane and secure, even if everything else seems to be falling apart!

And yes, I know, the ability to laugh when there doesn't seem to be anything joyous to fire the imagination is difficult, but it can become an acquired skill.

When things seem hopeless or work is getting on top of you, then take five minutes out for yourself. Close your eyes and relax and take yourself back to a happy place. Think about when you last laughed long and hard and place yourself back into that time. See it, feel it, hear it and really concentrate on how happy you felt at that moment.

Allow the corners of your mouth to twitch, look at who was around you at that time and see how their mouths were twitching too. Can you feel the joy you felt in your soul when you all laughed together? Remember that feeling, enjoy it, revel in it and treasure it. It costs you absolutely nothing and makes you feel so much better.

If you have difficulty visualizing happy times then read a funny book, watch a comedy program on TV or call a friend. Just do something which will give you a reason to have the corners of your mouth curling up in pleasure and enjoyment and you will begin to feel better.

You deserve it; your work deserves for you to have a break to refresh your mind and body and you owe it to yourself, your friends and your family to be the relaxed and happy individual we all know that you can be. Give yourself a break and have a laugh!

Have a great day my lovely fellow entrepreneurs.

Jude.

Hi Jude
A laugh or smile share is a burden spared. Especially is relationships, it is very hard to have conflict if you are laughing. A laugh makes the world a better place.
Cheers

I love making ppl laugh. My comedic skill iz lacking. How should I get my comedic skills up?

There's always something that makes us sad. Children recover fast and go back to being happy again. As adults though we tend to wait for something to happen to make us happy. And, of course, there's so much to take care of. So, we simply stay focused on serious things.

Recall the moment when you were distracted and managed to forget about your worries. That was enough to go into a different mode of being, a care free mode, right? And that is our natural state of being...

Relaxing is good, it will calm you down! And, that's what you need to do first - take a pause! If you then find something that makes you laugh it would be even better. Laughter will help you discharge the tension you are holding in your body and mentally.

Laugh yourself silly! It's good for you!

Love this! Well said and have to keep this in mind as I'm grieving for the loss of my brother last month due to a fatal car accident. He'd want me to laugh instead of cry but it's hard to do these days. Thanks so much for the wise words Jude!!

This is some good advice Jude. Remember the Readers Digest article."Laughter is the best Medecine?" Now it's a hospital practice for cancer patients. Real good advice.

Laughter really IS the best medicine. It's one of the things they tell patients. SO good for you!!!!

Thanks Jude I love to laugh and latley I've not had much to laugh at so thanks for reminding me to remember times I have laughed it sure helped great job!

Say it again! Well said. I honestly believe you have touched many hearts with this. I just laugh!

Very important for some of us!

"I love to laugh. Loud, and strong, and free. The more I laugh, the more I'm a merrier me." Lol
