Hello to all my wonderfully amazing Wealthy Affiliate friends! JrzyGrlBJ here to tell you that "Project Cleanout" is now completed...and not a moment too soon. I was beginning to think it would last forever!

Now I can concentrate on several things:

Rest and Relaxation, re-tuning of my rescue dog website, and getting back to Bootcamp training.

In fact writing this blog gave me the motivation to go back and begin refining my rescue dog website. Since, I have learned a great deal since building that website, I've decided that it could use a major overhaul.

So, after this post is completed, I will be concentrating all my efforts on getting all my websites in ship-shape condition. Hopefully, that will spur some monetization.

Improving Posts by Reviewing Training

Here is a funny story.

I had a quick look at some of my older posts, and I noticed a couple of things I stopped implementing. Why did I stop implementing these couple of things?

Not because they did not make a difference or did not work - but because I forgot about them!

They were not some big things - however, they did a lot to improve the post.

It was the video screenshot within the WA platform that I posted in review posts so I could link out from them to WA.

It is okay for these things to happen. People forget and people change their process along the way.

But what did I do to prevent this from happening again? Keep on reading!

Should You Go Back Through Training?

The long answer short is - yes, you should!

Why?

We learn a lot of things, and not everyone has the greatest memory. We can easily forget things or techniques that could help our businesses in the long run.

But the great thing about Wealthy Affiliate is that the training here is very well organized. And even better yet, we get to go back through training whenever we want!

So why not take this advantage, right?

I have seen some members who go through the training twice when they finish it once. This is especially great if you are working on your second site.

Finishing a lesson does not mean that you should forget about it or never go back to it. After you complete the tasks, it is okay to go back, read the lesson again, watch the video, and even re-do the tasks in the lesson!

I have heard that some members even write two posts where it says to write one post in the lesson. Doing this while consistently going through your training definitely cannot hurt.

However, I would not recommend anyone to skip tasks or push through the training with the purpose of just finishing the training quickly.

I believe that there's always room to improve just a tiny bit more every time - I bet that there are posts that you could improve today!

How to Improve Your Posts?

There is a couple of ways to improve your posts.

From increasing the length of the post, to making it more engaging, or even including better internal and external links.

My favorite way to improve posts visually is to increase more or higher-quality graphics, such as images - but do not forget videos either!

Always try to re-check basic on-page optimization of the post such as meta description, tags, heading tags, keyword & its placement, and anything else you come across.

I also love fact-checking my posts and doing a bit of additional research to see and find if there is any possibility of improving the information inside my post, without necessarily increasing the length.

Remember, it is not all about the length but also about the quality & valuable information inside the post and the way you write.

Also, you cannot get everything done within the post the first time, so it is definitely recommended going back to your older posts.

What is the Right Time to Go Back Through Your Old Posts?

There is no right or wrong time to go back through your old posts.

However, it is a great idea to plan and check up on at least one or two older articles a week. This will help you to still produce quality content weekly and yet improve your older posts.

As a result, this will lead to better engagement in your posts, rank improvements, and even more sales (better conversion rate)!

Do you update your old posts? How do you go about updating these posts and how often do you do it?

The best take away from this post Barbara is your bit about going back through the training. I've done and continue to do this on a fairly regular basis. In my career as a technician, I would always have the manual right beside me as I went through my day. It's not that I didn't know my craft, but rather, it was there to use as a reference should the need arise. I can always pick up some subtlety or other when reviewing, and be able to use this to my advantage. I consider it good form to read the directions so to speak.

Greg

Yes, Greg!
I definitely agree!
Always have the manual handy to make sure you are doing things correctly.

I will be starting the training over once it gets re-vamped.....I should hopefully have a niche by then...lol. If the revamp takes longer than expected I am still going to start over.
Have a Great Day!

Hi Chuck,
Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts with us.
That is very sound reasoning.

Barbara

I go back through my posts to improve my posts.

That's great!

If we have to, why not. Awesome post. Thanks. Florentino.

Thank you very much, Florentino!

Editing our posts is something very should all make a habit of. I know I don't do it often enough. Not only will you improve the post, you will pick up on any mistakes made. Also, I agree with going through the training again. I decided to do this each time I start a new website. Thanks for the reminder. Jim
