Content Index

Hey there everyone at Wealthy Affiliate! How is everyone doing? Hope everyone is well!

Tonight I wanted to share with everyone, that a post I published late last week, got indexed by Google. I was surprised to find this out because I did not receive any email notification. I just happened to be in "Site Content" most of the day, writing other posts, and just happened to click on the "greyed out" G beneath the post and it turned to the "colored" G.

I'm kind of wondering whether is for real or not and the reason I say that is, because I have other posts that I wrote months ago, that the G hasn't turned color yet. I will have to go into the search console and take a look to see what it showed.

Here is a sample of what I am referring to. As you can see, the first article was written about a week ago. The one below it, six months ago and the G still hasn't turned color. There are others like this too.

Now when I go back and look at it in Google Search Console, the article written six months ago shows that it was indexed April 27th 2020.

Site Content confuses the hell out of me. And the fact that there have been many articles that Google Search Console shows as being indexed, and I never received email notifications on them really baffles me. Is Site Content not working properly and maybe that is the reason for not getting the colored G or the email notifications. I don't know, but it is certainly difficult to manage and know how your articles are fairing out when some of the platform functions aren't working properly.

Has anyone else noticed this kind of discrepancy with Site Content?

Mind you, I am happy to find out that my post was indexed, but confuses as to while several other posts in site content do not show up as being indexed.

A bit of a surprise and some ranting about Site Content.

That's not all I accomplished today. I published two more articles for my MMO site, another is in the works, I'm working on the narration for my talk-through training video, and I helped my daughter build her own website for selling products that she makes. I learned a few things about Woo Commerce todays as well.

Always something to learn each day here in Wealthy Affiliate.

Ok folks, time for me to turn in. It's been a long day.

Interesting -- I always get emails when Google has indexed one of my posts. I wonder why you don't get them. Have you checked on your profile in settings to see if something is turned off?

I looked but I don't see anything that pertains to Google Indexing notification.

Have you looked through spam? I just went through my spam folder looking for something else and found a bunch of WA posts that should not have been there.

I was looking at spam last night, but I didn't see anything relevant to WA. I am going to go through it again.

Thanks for posting this. It is valuable to someone like me.

You're very welcome.

I've seen that before too.

So, do you know what causes it?

Google has a mind of its own for sure with its indexing. concerning site content, I have never had issues like this.
Bill

Hi Bill,
I just think it's weird and I can't figure out if Site Content is not working properly or what the issue is. Clearly Google says they are indeed but I never received any notification and site content shows some are and some aren't.

Something is definitely wrong but can't figure out what.

Barbara

Good news Barbara. My posts have been indexed, some in a day or so, others in a week or more, and one took a month. I just shrug and go about my business. Google is what confuses me the most.

Greg

Hi Greg,
Apparently some of these posts were indexed months ago and I wasn't aware of it because I never received any notification that they were.
If site content isn't working properly, then why should we use it.
To me it is much easier for me to take my post from a word document and copy and paste it into WordPress and finish any editing I have to do right in Word Press before publishing.

Barabara

Early on, I tried doing that as well, made more sense to me. Problem was that after pasting and publishing, I would find formatting errors in the published version. Then I had to go back into WP clean it up, and update. Gave up on that idea. Lately I've seen a few posts about doing the same thing, but using google docs instead of Word. Apparently no formatting issues. BTW, I also use Open Office, and experienced the same formatting thing there.

So you create the article in Google docs, then paste it into WordPress?
I'll have to try it. See if it works better for me.
Thanks for the advice.

Barabara

Let me know how that works out for ya Barbara.

I will. Thanks Greg!
