Are you Paying Attention to Your Site Health?

Hello all my amazing Wealthy Affiliate friends. JrzyGrlBJ here with you today! I was not around yesterday to partake in all the conversations going on in the platform. I would much rather have been on the platform yesterday instead of what I was doing. From 7:30 am - 5:00 pm, my sister's and I were clearing out my mom's house. What a back-breaking, exhausting nightmare that was! I have one massive headache since yesterday due to all the noise and confusion. That's a story for another time and place.

So today, I will try to do some catch-up for the time I lost yesterday.

Health is a very important issue during these uncertain times. We all need to know that we are in good health, wouldn't you say?

Well, it should be no different for our website(s). Remember that this is our business and the health of it does affect our livelihood.

Are you Paying Attention to Your Site Health?

We are learning and improving daily, and our websites are just one of the places where we can see our results.

I like to think that there is always a bit more room for improvement. I am not a perfectionist (and I do not recommend being one), but I think that having goals and constantly growing is a great way to build success in any aspect of life.

And that is why I also believe that even the smallest step is better than no step. Why?

Because you are actually moving forward instead of staying at one spot. In this blog post, I would like to discuss Site Health, one of the features I have overlooked for a while - but it changed the way I look at my websites.

Are You Taking the Advantage of Site Health?

It is true that I was not taking full advantage of Site Health for a while. In case you are new to Site Health and you do not know what, it is - here is a simple explanation.

Site health is a feature that is a part of Websites inside the Wealthy Affiliate platform. It is a feature that can overview your site and evaluate the health of your site.

The health of your site is based on 8 different aspects of your website:

  • Your posting frequency
  • Visitor engagement
  • Plugins
  • Google Rankings
  • Content quality & length
  • Your engagement
  • Site trust
  • Website feedback

Therefore, if you have ever wondered how well you made your site on the technical part - this is one of the best ways to have a quick insight into your site's health.

Of course, this site health is based on some sort of an algorithm which it catches, and then it displays results and explains it to us in a simple way.

And you can get the results from 0 to 100% - but do you need to ace all of them?

Do you Need to Put 100% of Effort into Every Aspect of Site Health?

The real answer is - no.

Why not? Don't we all want our websites to be better in all aspects?

Yes, we do. However, as JerryHuang explained in his famous post about Site Health - there are some aspects you should really focus on, and then there are some aspects that are a bit more controversial.

The things you should focus on are:

  • Posting frequency
  • Content quality, variety, and length
  • Visitor engagement (getting comments)
  • Your engagement with the visitors

This does not mean that you should ignore other aspects though. But for example, you do not need to reduce the number of plugins just to get 100% in the Site Health if your site speed is fast.

Also, there are some aspects you cannot change directly - yet you can change them indirectly as you continue to work on your site and establish it further. These aspects are site trust and google rankings.

What Can Site Health Tell You About Your Site That You Didn't Know?

You do not need to focus 100% on the Site Health. I believe that it is a great guideline to follow through, but you do not need to blindly focus on improving things only to increase the Site Health score.

However, one of the things I did not know was if I was posting enough content on my website.

Site Health helped me big time with this one. But also, it helped me find out if I am getting enough comments on my website.

And by starting to work on these two factors - my site trust increased, and I started gaining better rankings.

Of course, I would have done this anyway as I was following the training - but it is good to have a way to tell how your site is performing right within the WA platform.

I am sure that it was not quite easy to make such an algorithm, but Kyle and Carson did a really good job to provide much more insight into our website.

Are you relying on Site Health? Did Site Health tell you anything about your website that you did not know?

Site health is a good tool, because it can give us important clues about places where we can improve. I need to do some more feedback; almost did one yesterday and got bogged down in something else. I'll get there.

Yes, I agree, it is important to pay attention to site health.

Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting on my blog.
I appreciate your adding to the discussion.

Thanks for the reminder to check our site health! I hadn't checked the site health on any of my sites for months. I was in a weird place and didn't check much at all on WA. I certainly wasn't do anything on my businesses.

Now that I have been more active, several of my sites health have risen. Much better than always seeing, "Site Health Needs Work" all the time!

Great post showing the importance of site health and how to look at it.
