How many posts does it take to get to the top?
I'd imagine the answer to this question is different for every blogger in every niche but...I thought I'd throw this out there tonight to poll the community.
1) How many posts did it take you to see your own website in a google search result?
2) how many posts did it take until the first time you saw your website on the first page in google?
I have to continue to remind myself that even if my webpage is not showing in google results for keyword searches that i'm targeting, I am really enjoying my niche and I am learning alot and becoming an expert in the subject matter.
Please feel free to share your story with me!! I want to hear your success story and how long (# of posts) it took you to finally break through? How did it feel when it happened? What do you feel made the most difference?

It's different for every website, because it depends on the competition. If you're up against thin sites with only a few pieces of dated content, you'll outrank them quickly with only a little more content yourself. If they are long-established huge authority sites, it'll take a lot longer!
I must say first of all, many might share and say it happened in a week or two because they 'are' listed...it's actually not a true result.
This happened to me and many others, it's too long to get into I'll leave you my blog post I wrote a while back to make others aware that they need to check everything in 'Incognito' mode for the real results. Googles False First Page Result. Yes False.
Good advice, when you say the "three little dots" are you talking about in wordpress? What screen exactly do you find this on?
So in a summary, I make a new post targeting a certain keyword. Then post it. Then in a new tab I search that keyword in google and observe the result? ... it's not a true test? I need to first turn on incognito mode to run my search?

The 3 little dots have nothing to do with WA. It's your browser so if you have Chrome for example at the top right hand side beside the search bar there are 3 dots. Click on them and you will see a list. For Chrome it has 'New Incognito Window'. This opens up a totally different tab and it's like you are viewing your result as someone else would see it. I use this to check everything.
I thought my logo banner was up when I changed it, but when I checked in Incognito mode it was not there! to find I didn't add the size. I saw it was there but it wasn't.
Google uses what is stored on your laptop memory to give you the result, so it looks like you are ranked and listed.
For your rank use Incognito and check keywords to see if you are listed.
