The journey so far

I always wanted to be a writer and over the last 6 months I decided to give it a full time go. I quit my job, travelled over seas for inspiration and sat down at my computer to build a site where I could spill my thoughts.

4 months in and I was still trying to figure out how to build a working website. It drained me completely and I was ready to give up. I took some time off to get my head back before returning to a non working, non SEO friendly website and just went full ball on creating content.

It brought back the drive and the love but it didn't bring back the money. After 6 months I decided to hop a plane back for Australia to find work. I had been back for 5 days and just the thought of working back in my trade (welder) made me pretty sad.

One day I was cruising Instagram when I came across a page that had a link to "make money online." I was bored and so I just clicked it. Up came the most terribly made promotional video about making money online, it was so cheesy and obviously a scam that I watched it out of... actually I don't know why I watched it! In the movie though they dropped a line that mentioned "affiliate marketing."

I decided to google this term as I love the thought of promoting (it is my favourite writing style) This was the moment I was introduced to Kyle and one of his blogs. In the blog Kyle mentioned the video I had just watched and said it was as silly as I had thought it was. He went on to mention that affiliate marketing was actually a great thing for motivated people who want to sell online. He also mentioned Wealthy Affiliate and provided a link, which I decided to click.. Annnnnd thannnnnk you!!

Now this all went down just 12 days ago. In that time I have been able to write content, that for me has been super enjoyable to write! I've come to understand SEO and just how simple it really is. In just 12 days I've built a working site that has been cheaper to build and way more efficient than the one I tried to create 6 months ago! In 12 days!!

I have to give a massive thanks to Kyle, Carson and everyone else who actively takes part in the WA community. It truly is an awesome place to learn and we are pretty lucky it is here.

So that's a little about my journey so far. I've got a long way to go but it doesn't bother me or seem overwhelming because I'm enjoying it and the support is everywhere.
