The Day-to-Day Life of a WA Newbie

Hi everyone, my name is Justin Pratt. I'm just getting started in WA and affiliate marketing. I thought it would be a good idea for me to put together a blog to track how things are going with my business from the start. In addition to keeping track of my business, this should serve as a means to increase my network within the WA community, remind some of the marketing gods here just how awesome WA is for beginners and hopefully show some other newcomers just how easy it is to get things up-and-running.

First let me start by telling you about myself and my experience. I am a father of two awesome young kids, a student of finance (graduating in 4 mos. WOOHOO) and someone who genuinely wants to use my education and abilities to help other people out. Little did I know, but this last attribute would lead me to picking my niche.

After quitting my job and deciding to go back to school, my wife and I made a move half way across the country to the mid-west. Initially, I worked part-time and went to school full-time. This seemed to work out well in the beginning, but I wanted to focus on school when I got to my senior year. To do so I quit my job as a waiter and haven't worked at a "real job" since. It wasn't until my recent internship at a mortgage lender / broker that I realized the corporate world isn't where I want to be. I can't stand the politics, wearing a suite and tie everyday or taking orders all for the benefit of someone else. What I did learn bout that experience was how good it felt to help out someone in financial distress. With this in mind I set out to do my own thing.

I was introduced to WA by Nathaniell Brenes, more specifically his YouTube series, three days ago. A big thanks to him for putting those videos together and spreading the word about this great program. In just three short days I have found my niche, been educated on SEO, and already have a site. My next step will be working on putting together keyword specific content. The training videos by Kyle are second to none. For the newcomer reading, Kyle is the co-founder of WA. You would expect to get some random person or even a third party to do the training. Not here. This speaks volumes about the organization as a whole. If the guys at the top care that much, not much else needs to be said. Everything in the videos are explained in a thorough and simple manner. I have no experience with building websites, but found his method so easy anyone who can click a mouse can do it.

In the coming months I would like to be above break even by month 6. After that, my one year goal is to making at least $500/mo. My overall goal is to help people out and built a long term relationship with people while offering them products that can help them out. I'm focusing first on people who want to establish, build or repair their credit. Eventually I would like to put together a site that focuses on the financial world and investing and I'm hoping I can take those same people I helped out with credit issues and work on wealth management. Maybe I'm getting a bit ahead of myself, but you gotta have goals.

Thank you for reading I wish you all the best in your personal, financial and emotional lives. Please comment and / or follow me. I would love input whether positive or negative; I can learn from either.

P.S.- this will be the longest blog post because of the introduction.

Just finished adding some content, but plan to have the newly added pages done by the end of this week. Getting my free WA site transferred over was a bit of a challenge at first, but I eventually found another one of Kyle's training videos that stopped me from chasing my tail. My goal for the next couple of weeks is to finish up the content on the two pages I started and pound out an article or two. Check it out and let me know what you think. thanks to all for comments.

I like the domain you've chosen - it's catchy!

I saw that you added a banner for Get Cash For Surveys from Clickbank. I think at this point it might be detrimental to have that banner and offer there. There are two reasons for this.

1) It isn't targeted to your audience. Sure, someone with credit issues will probably need money, but they aren't searching for it, so any sales you get will be 'lucky' and maybe not repeatable.

2) Your website is just starting out, so you may want to hold off on adding affiliate offers. It's usually recommended to let a site 'stew' with quality content and happy visitors, and THEN start sprinkling in some offers.

I definitely see some future posts about how to make money from the internet that could be appropriate for your target audience, so promoting something like cash for surveys, data entry, or even WA could fit in your blog at some point in the future.

Good to see you're making progress. Keep us updated.

I was pretty much just playing around with those banners. I put one on the home page and a skyscraper in another page. The section of training I was working on was going through that and I was just getting a feel for how everything works and making sure my links were in there. Once I start focusing on driving traffic and put together an adwords campaign, my first offer(s) are going to be for secured credit cards. I don't imagine anyone is actually visiting the site now because I haven't done anything to drive traffic; very much still in the beta phase. Thanks as always for the feedback.

Just a quick update with my progress. I finished putting together my first post and have a few informative pages I have added, but not published yet. I have to say I'm amazed at how fast this has come along and it is all because of the training here. WA is absolutely awesome. Can't wait until I reach the finding offers and making money part! For anyone that wants to check it out. The content I just finished is linked below. I also have the privacy policy and about me page done. Comments, evenly the brutally honest ones are appreciated.

Hi, I read your post. It's clear that you know what you're talking about. I also like the tone of the post; it's clear, concise, informative, and not too long.

Was this an article based on a keyword, or is it a pillar article? Was it written just to flex your writing muscles?

I would maybe consider breaking up your paragraphs a bit. Some of the chunky ones could be split into two. They already look OK, but for some impatient readers, they may get discouraged by large chunks of text. Smaller bites help people's eyes flow down the page.

It was based on a keyword. I was using the keyword phrase "how do I establish credit". I tried to write it naturally so it wouldn't raise any flags. On one of Kyle's videos he noted only using keywords in the title and first paragraph. I will definitely break up some of those paragraphs. I'm still in college writing mode so it is a sin to have paragraphs with less than 5 sentences. thanks for the feedback

Haha. It is a hard habit to break. I always wrote in complete ideas before. Now I write with...internet ideas..which are, well, faster and shorter I guess. It's just a personal tactic of mine, but I try to imagine two people reading my post: Someone skimming and someone reading. I need content for the reader, but I need to entertain the short attention span of the skimmer too. Bold, titles, and other formatted text (within reason) can help with this too.

Using your WA blog is a great way of tracking goals and progress. I still do it today, and I've been here 3 years. I think your goals are definitely reasonable and achievable. I also think that the repair your credit niche is definitely something you can find a profitable corner of, especially with your expertise.

I'm looking forward to seeing your progress, and don't hesitate to ask for help along the way.

I am so glad you wrote this and I'm so glad that you are into helping people. You will fit right in at WA because that's what all the other folks here are into also. I'm glad, too, that you discovered early on that working to make someone else rich while they are abusing you is NOT where it;s at! I think that working for a BOSS truly sucks, big time. Here at WA, if you really apply yourself and give your work ethic a good workout, I absolutely KNOW that a year from now, you will be making way more than $500 a month...!!! You are an excellent writer, and very well spoken. You have all the skills to constantly pump out great content, and that will take you right to where you want to go. So up and at 'em, time's awasting! Bless you!

Thank you so much for the kind words. If my wife wasn't on a retreat this weekend, I would be fighting for search engine dominance already. That leads me to another great point. I can work when it is convenient for me. I wish you the best and thanks again for the comment, it is much appreciated.
