Virtual Clutter. That block to progress !

Many of us are good at clearing our desks and our closets. Maybe we don't do it as often as we would like but we know that it is necessary.

We can all remember when we first connected our computers, phones and other devices. There was so much space. It seemed like we could never fill up that space that was available. Gradually, with all the emails coming in, solicited and unsolicited, the advertisements and the phishing scams, our inboxes became cluttered.

If we were to check our storage, we would find many documents that we promised we would review but they were never reviewed. We would also see projects that were completed and would require no further action. Our listing of contacts contains names that we forget who they were. The devices are loaded with people on our 'friend' list who linked up to us 6 years ago and never added to our social activities in one way or the other.

Now we look at our devices and wonder how they came to be so cluttered.

Clearing up has to be a regular exercise. I cannot work in a disorderly environment. Every Monday morning I spend the first hour deleting, adding to folders, and moving files to an external hard drive.

I was not always this methodical, but I went to a seminar where the facllitator showed us how much time, storage, and process are wasted when we don't declutter. He actually gave us calculations to support the exercises. What a revelation !!!

How about you? How often do you declutter ?

I declutter very slowly, Joy!🙄

Jeff

That's ok Jeffrey. As long as it gets done. Thanks for your comments.

Small steps, Joy, and you are welcome!

Jeff

I know my wife declutters on a regular basis but I can't remember when I decluttered last. I just read some of my emails and move others to folders I had opened for them.

Yes Dadaz. If you ever develop the habit, you would be surprised how much more productive you would be. Thanks for your comments.
