Has Anyone Noticed This And Is This Normal?

So I am in Amazon Affiliate site and in the process of getting the affiliate link on a certain product. Clicking the 'Get Link' button I am taken to a page where I choose the Link Only choice, choose Short Link and I am given the shortened URL . Cool.

Now when repeat the process a second or more time and getting the affiliate link on the SAME product, I end up getting a totally different URL code.

Now my question to everyone: Have you encountered the same thing? And is this normal? I have addressed this question with Site Support but I'm afraid they will refer me to Amazon on the issue.

My Second Question

How do we determine if the product and product link actually leads to the product on Amazon with the right codes so we actually get paid when there is a purchase made?

Thanks for those who might respond to this and clarify this.

Joe

Are you using the Amazon Site Stripe? This tool is very convenient.
The product's url or link usually changes everytime you click the Get the Link tab.
As long as the product link has your affiliate code there is no problem. You can check it before you shorten the link or try to click the product's shortened link if it displays your affiliate code in the url. For instance, if my affiliate code is 12345678, I should see that in the url once I clicked the link. Usually it displays a long url once you clicked the link since it has your affiliate code added to the url to track your sales.

How do we identify our affiliate code from the very long url?

Joe

When you apply to Amazon associates you were given a unique affiliate code or ID that is being attached to your affiliate link. Please refer to attached pictures. I highlighted mine in the long URL and before I shortened the product link.

I noticed the same thing. Amazon seem to be trying to make things easier but not telling anyone. You need to check regularly if your links still work.
Gaz.

As far as purchases from your posted ad and trying to determine if your link works, how do we check if the link is even right and that they are your's.

How do we verify that the link generated truly works? If it doesn't we won't know.

Thanks for the feedback.

Joe

Click on it as though you were an interested party.
View post and click on the link.
Or is there something I'm missing, if so sorry.
I got a nasty shock when I got a "this page is unavailable notice" I spent significant time fixing things.
Gaz.
PS Amazon link checker: the link first provided is not the problem, It's when it works and then suddenly doesn't.
Which reminds me...

To your second question you test it, by approaching the link as if you are someone following it. Log out of everything associated with your account and affiliate link and then you test the link, but take into account this involves buying the product through your link. 😅 Easy discount, because you'll get reimbursed.

But the whole point of an affiliate link is it is a personal identification associated to your account and the product.

Like a phone number..the start of the number is area code (the company and product), the last part is you personal contact identification (the address to say you own the link).

Hope this helps

Ps. If you are wondering if anyone can steal your commissions through your link. The answer is no, if they use your affiliate link you still pocket the commissions.

Buying from your own ad using your name? The affiliate app will possibly see that you are buying from yourself. Amazon might rip our lips off.

There has got to be a better way to know that the link which constantly change are indeed going to end in your account as people purchase from your ad.

Thanks for the feedback!

Joe

as i said..your affiliate link is yours..it is only associated to your account and efforts of marketing. no matter how many times it changes it will always lead to your referal to the product resulting in you getting paid..

you need to understand as well though it only works for 24hrs as amazon arent really affiliate friendly anymore

Thanks for the feedback.

Joe
