A Niche, I'm Scared :O
So I'm deciding on a niche for my first campaign as I go through the new certification course. And I'm having a really hard time. There are so many things I'd like to do, in fact it has been one of my major downfalls. I get distracted so easily that I don't stick with one thing.
But I'm determined to do it this time. I have to reach my goals. ;)
So what are the requirements for a niche? A Passion, An Interest, or A Hobby.
There is a niche that I've wanted to get into for a long time, that for fits all three of these. It's a hobby of mine, something I'm interested in and passionate about.
But I'm scared to do it. :O
There is not a lot of competition in this niche and I can easily see myself becoming an authority in it. The thing that scares me is that I know there are a lot of people that know a lot more about this niche than me.
I'm afraid that I'll look as if I don't know anything.
I have a website that's been sitting around for a few years, just waiting for me to do something with it and I haven't for fear of messing up.
But, I know that I'll never succeed without taking action. And that it's better to take action and have to fix something later than to not do anything at all.
So I'm going for it.

Don't think so much about it. Just go with your heart and start writing about it. There maybe more people that know about the subject matter, but you can bring in your own perspective and connect with people, that I think is very much needed more than becoming a encyclopedia of knowledge!

OK, so if you have low competition, you are interested in the niche and your only problem is that you don't feel like an authority?
One solution is to become an authority. Closely related to this is to identify the current authorities in that niche and ask them to contribute. This can be either with guest blog posts or if they are willing, record an interview with them about the niche.
With this option you have the added benefit of bringing good quality information to your readers and learning about the intricacies of your niche at the same time.
Before you know it, people will be coming to you for interviews.
The only thing you should be afraid of is not beginning. Just get started.
