Everyone Gives their Opinion
Our EGO can become our greatest roadblock. The reason for this is that it is not our own; it's born when every one gives their opinion. We live on an emotional and psychological rollercoaster - at any moment we can be on cloud nine or in the depths of hell.
The ego can rob us of our authencity, since we live only to support of repudiate others opinions. For instance, if I continue to write this post while worrying how it's going to be received, then it will not be my own post. It will simply be that of my imaginary audience.
The point that I'm making is; know thy self, be aware of what't going on within the self. Write honestly about what you reallly believe. There will be those who love it, hate it or simply don't care.
Write for YOUR AUDIENCE and not for every one. Do it from your heart and your words will find those who share your thoughts.
The ego will get in the way of your greatest work; the reason is simple: it requires constant meintenace. It demands constant tuning to satisfy others or at least your perception of them; while draining your creativity.
In order to write freely one has to love it. Write for an audience of one - yourself. If others love it, then great; if no one does then you're not meant to write for them.
I believe the only way to love your writing is to do it without worrying how it will be received. Only do your best to communicate your thoughts as clearly and consise as possible.
Other than that there isn't much to say.
Remember the ego is as real as a calendar of a clock. All were invented by the mind - they have no truth in ultimate reality. Yes the earth does rotates on its axis to make what we call days and nights, and yes the earth revolves around the sun to make what we call years. The moon also revolves around the earth to make what we call months. But that is what is real - not calendars or clocks - those are only measuring devices.
Our ego began when our parents named us, then it continue to grow as a result of how we we're regarded by those parents, our family, teachers, friends and so on. But at the end it is only that - thoughts - brain activity.
Only the self has the power to move beyong the ego; because only one has the real and true picture of our lives.
Respect your self, respect your truth and rise above the so called ego. Even if it is serving you it is also limiting you. This is because it lives and breathes only when everyone gives their opinion.

Just what I needed to hear. I have been to worried about upsetting someone with my writing.
Your post helped me see this in a different light.
Thank you
Laura
Hello Laura, ego limits us in all areas of our lives - as writers, parents, friends and so on. If we're just living to satisfy or disprove another's claim, then we are not going to trully shine. Our life just becomes a response to another person's thoughts. That's a very limited way to live one's life.
Thank you for your response,
Jose
