Feeling Tired, Sluggish, Not Focused?

Truth: Go exercise.

Take 30 minutes and get your blood flowing. Take a walk, jog, or just do some push ups. Once you sit back down you'll notice how much better you feel and how your mind has regained focus.

Not only will your health improve but your work will too. Get all those juices flowing and you'll be amazed how much better your work, writing, and attitude will be. It's a great idea to carve an hour block out each day and dedicate it to your body and sanity.

Don't have an hour? Break it down; 5 push ups here, a jumping jack there, suddenly you've started. Start small but immediately. The best part about this, you see the benefits of your efforts very quickly.

My favorite part of the day is the hour long walk/jog I take daily around a pond near my home. I clear my head, stretch my legs, breathe fresh air, take a moment to enjoy nature, and maybe even lose a "love handle". I started with just a 15 minute walk and after a few weeks I wanted to keep going and now habitually do at least an hour each day.

Little changes lead to big changes and I'm not just talking about your health. Your work, diet, attitude, and family life will improve dramatically.

Ever notice how many successful folks are in good shape? I've noticed that our wonderful founders have talked about exercise and the importance of it. They seem to be doing pretty well for themselves. Smart people who acknowledge the importance of exercise and fresh air are a dangerous combo!

So...can you find 15 minutes today to take a stroll? Can you squeeze 5-10 push ups into your busy schedule? I think so.

I hope you all have a safe and wonderful weekend. Take a walk with your spouse, child, or dog. You won't regret it!

Jon

Hi Jon,
Thanks for following. Your blog is great advice and one I do daily. I think East Coast people are more in to walking than some. I'm from New jersey but living now in Florida. Sometimes the heat is so oppressive that the only place to walk is an air conditioned store or market or to do it early morning or late at night.

Glad to hear Nancy!

I can imagine it being tough to "get out" in that Florida summer heat but glad you found a substitute. Night walks with the dog are always a fun time for me and I'm loving the recent fall weather here. Thanks for the comment!

Absolutely one of the BEST pieces of business success advice I've ever read on WA. Without a clear head and sound body, it won't be long before one is yawning at the monitor saying, "I'll finish or get to that tomorrow". And tomorrow... a lot more yawning.

With all the 'positive thinking' talk that's prevalent here, most do not realize that's it's a futile thing without being physically fit in body and mind. One can not remain motivated and positive while trying to digest a big dinner at the computer... WALK IT OFF! LOL

Bravo jonsense!!!!!

Cliff

Thanks for the comment Cliff! Right on.
