My progress so far

Hey everyone,

For just about a year now I've been working on my personal finance blog:

www.thewealthbrickroad.com

What started out as aimlessly typing so stuff in a computer has slowly begun to gain momentum and a modest reader base. It's been a lot fun , and now I'm looking to turn my passion for helping people with personal finance into a small business.

About five years ago I started experiencing anxiety and panic attacks. For the many who share this same affliction, you'll understand how crippling it can be to your lifestyle. Overcoming my anxiety has been a bit like trench warfare: gaining ground at times only to be pushed back, but overall I've improved immensely.

My anxiety nowadays is primarily experienced at work where I'm a CPA in finance. I would like to eventually explore other career and life paths (freelancing, blogging, raising a family) so I'm aiming to save a good nest egg to take the pressure off of leaving my job eventually. While aggressively saving at my current job, I'm also learning to manage my anxiety by taking it head on, as scary as that has been at times.

I joined WA a month ago to help me get over the wall I felt I'd hit with my blog. While I had some of the base knowledge of setting up a website, there's lots of great tips I've picked up in the first 2 courses. I've been proud of my modest success working solo and now can't wait to blow the blog up even more!

My goals for the next 3 months are to experience my first affiliate sale on the website. It would be a strong affirmation of my potential in this industry.

Over the next 6 months I'd love to consistently hit 1000 unique viewers on my website.

Thanks for reading and feel free to contact me directly on finance, dealing with anxiety or just about anything on your mind :)

Jonny

Jonny glad you have been encouraged more and more as time passes by. You are going to do well I know!

Thank you so much!
It's great to share my experiences and receive support.

I'm happy to hear the course is helping you. I think you'll reach both of your goals :)

Thanks! It's been a challenging and a lot of fun so far.
All the best to you moving forward!

Hey, Jonny, I remember you.
Do you remember me?
Thank you for sharing about your progress at WA.
I have confidence that you will do really well!
Warmest wishes ~ Sue

Hey Suetay - yes, of course I remember you from my first few days here on WA. Thanks for the encouragement, I really appreciate the support!

Totally empathise here Jonny.

I suffered with anxiety for years and years. It's vile. Totally debilitating at times. I discovered kundalini yoga and meditation 15 months ago. It has changed my life...literaly. Or should I say it has changed my personality. So much so that hubby is still getting used to the new me. I don't give a flying flip about stuff anymore......in a good way.

Yes I quit my job just before I started my yoga journey but I truly believe it had nothing to do with my self development. Anxiety is anxiety. It doesn't just switch off with a change in circumstances. We have been massively financially challenged since I quit my job but it's all good. Why am I not anxious anymore? Because I have changed......not my circumstances.

There is some chanting (or humming and ahhing as hubby would say haha ) but I thoroughly reccommend it. Meditation at least, should be taught in schools.
Have a look on youtube and just give it a try in private. What have you got to lose?
No need to feel silly, no one will be watching lol....

Thanks for sharing.
I agree that a change in circumstances would not miraculous cure my anxiety. I feel like very fortunate to be where I'm at.
Thanks for the advice. I started getting up earlier and doing yoga with my girlfriend in the morning 2 times a week. It's been a great way to ease into the day. I've been told meditation can be life changing and have started to practice it.
I really enjoyed reading your story - gives me a lot of hope!

Oh thats great. So you're already feeling the benefits :) Please let me know how you get on with your meditation!
