First blog, check!

So I managed to write my first blog remarkable quickly (for me)... and in the process realised that's where I've gotten stuck with my other websites - I overthink the blogging, trying to write everything perfectly and then stressing that I haven't constructed it right, or I need more facts and figures or... whatever. But I just kept hearing Kyle's voice saying not to take too long hahaha... and it felt great just to run with what I know and type it out quickly without overthinking or second guessing it.

Would welcome some feedback! http://realestatemarketing101.com/3-creative-real-...

18/08 - please note: site is nowhere near finished, just wanting thoughts on my first blog content. Thanks! :)

By the way Jonelle, I love your link to "fin free Sidney"...I just liked their fb page.
First I thought it was going to be a site about maybe having a shark net across Sidney Harbour so people could swim in safety but then I saw it was actually against the "shark's fin soup" sort of industry and that's excellent.
Good stuff
Mark

Thanks Mark, yes the Fin Free Sydney girls do an amazing job!

G'day Jonelle, I think Mark has it pretty well summed up. From my point of view, Just a few graphics and more colour, you seem to be going a whole page with nothing to break it but WA banners. If you want excellent graphics on any subject try fotolia.com costs approx. $1.00 /graphic. it only takes a little to make a good site into a great one.

Hi Jonelle

Well done for getting your first blog post together with your 3 local marketing ideas...... although I can't comment on the usefulness of the ideas it's put together very nicely.

1 - I'm aware that your site is new and therefore will naturally lack a certain depth to it but I would agree with Roger about some images (including a header image), after all, real estate is about presenting properties in their best light so that they appeal to a wide spectrum of viewers.

2 - Your domain lands on your blog roll which is good and in accordance with Kyle's training....have you made this one a sticky or will it naturally be superseded by new posts? Well done for making a snippet of it as it then means you can have comments allowed beneath each blog post as they're opened.

3 - I'd recommend you break up your paragraphs as a few look a little too long....limit them to a couple of/few sentences and maybe use a couple of H2/H3/H4 headings in between them.

4 - You've got a question as a CTA for your comments which is good but I'd also word it so that you ask your viewers for their thoughts on YOUR ideas as well in order to get them to comment as they may not have ideas of their own.

With the rest of your site, on your Sales Agents page I'd do #3 on there as well. I like that your two links open in a new tab so viewers keep your site open....no Call To Action for your comments at the bottom though, you should create one for this page too.
I like that your Privacy Page is on a drop down, means it's there for Mr G but not taking up space on your top menu line.

Overall, a good start Jonelle....your ongoing task is to keep at it but the few little things above shouldn't take long to do if you feel you want to take note of them.

Good luck
Mark

Hi Mark, thank you so much for taking the time to look at my blog and give me such detailed feedback, I really appreciate it!
I forgot to say that I hadn't fluffed my site yet (theme, pictures etc) was just really trying to get the content of the first blog sorted first. I have another site www.liveabetteryou.com which is very fluffed if you want to take a look hahahaha...
#2. I will have new blog snippets show, thanks.
#3. That's exactly what I was wondering! I agree, thank you!
#4. Excellent point thanks!
Yeah I haven't finished any of the pages/rest of site yet, but would love for you to take a look again once I'm up and running!?
Thanks again Mark, much appreciated!

Hi Jonelle,
No problem with the feedback, I'm always happy to help out anybody who values and appreciates it.
Shoot me a pm whenever you'd like me to check it out again, I'll be happy to do so.
Good luck
Mark

I usually struggle with writing too. I'm going to post a new method I've started using to make it easier.

Hi Chris, thanks for your comment, I'll keep an eye out for your post!

I hope you don't mind me commenting as I am relatively new here. I have just taken a look at your website and the first thing that hit me was that there are no header pictures of Real Estate etc.

I have just done a search for you and found it possible to get some free picture which you might want to use? Unfortunately, I am unable to add any links here.

I am building a site about 'Juicing', so if you take a look at it you can see the pictures I have been able to add. http://www.juicing4us.com

I hope this helps?

Roger

Hi Roger! Of course I don't mind, thank you! And I'm new here too ;) Yes, I completely forgot to mention that I haven't 'fluffed' up my site yet (I'm probably not even keeping this theme) so sorry!... just really wanted feedback on the content itself. Had a look at your juicing site looks fantastic! Except the header picture for me was blurry, not sure if it didn't load properly or?... Thanks again for your help! :)
