DIGGING FOR STARBUCKS GOLD

A moment of great happiness today. I went into our local Starbucks and ordered my usual Grande Carmel Macchiato with 2 raw sugars, stirred, not shaken. I payed my nice barista lady with my old plastic Starbucks card that my wife got me for Christmas. I asked her if she could run my card and tell me how many stars I needed for my highly anticipated Starbucks Gold Card. She said; "No, you will have to go online to Starbucks.com and it should tell you there".
The problem is that Starbucks is having a glitch in their website and it only gives information up to Dec 27th (or right around there). So I punched through a few tabs and found their real phone number. Then I had to go through the ritual of entering my 15 digit number and then my 8 digit pin number and then a nice recorded voice gave me my purchase history and lots of other info, EXCEPT for what I really wanted to know. Then the voice told me that I could punch 4 to get a real live person, which I did. The RLP (real live person) turned out to be a charming young lady who began putting me through her ritual: name, birthplace, address, mother's maiden name, and the last four digits of something or other.
I didn't blame her - she was just doing her job, and lo and behold, she became convinced that I was who I said I was. Then she told me what the recorded voice had told me (deja vu) and I told her that I had gone online and that the updates stopped at the end of December. She told me about the famous glitch and that they were looking at it. Then she said the magic words; "How many times have you purchased in January?" Since the website said that I needed 7 more stars as of December 27, I just blurted out "Seven or Eight times"! She had the power and said: " Well I'm going to just give you credit for those and you should be getting your Gold Card in 6 to 8 weeks". I tried not to sound too excited, I felt like hugging her, but that's pretty difficult over the phone.
So, I had to dig for awhile, but I finally got my Starbucks Gold. I wonder if it makes the coffee taste better?
