Affiliate Setups

Last week I started looking to see how many different affiliates I could do within the Niche I have chosen. It was incredible to find so many. Today was the day to started becoming an affiliate with some of these different groups. When I went to join the first I was sent to The Rakuten LinkShare Network, that was a surprise. Then as I went on to the next one, I was sent to shareasale, then webgains. I guess I thought it would be like signing up for Amazon where I was just sent to Amazon.

Does this mean that many of these places offering affiliates have someone else managing their affiliates for them? Does it all work about the same as clickbank? Just curious?
