10,000 work hours, 3 years, equals millions !

A different kind of ContentI like to post about motivating or funny and unusual story's. This is a true story of my client who became a friend, Bruce.Now Bruce was educated as a civil engineer, and has also taught math and has read many books. There is not to many things Bruce does not have some knowledge of. I hope after you read about Bruce you will be motivated to write more. Bruce had graduated from university with a degree and got a job with the city.This was easy, can you spell nepotism ? His Grandfather and father had also worked for the city as engineers. Now Bruce has lived in Vancouver all his life basically and loved the history of our city, nature and animals, and reading books.He loves books so much that his home looks like a library. Now back in 1990 Bruce was dating a lady that owned 3 pieces of real estate, one was a nice condo she was living in.she told Bruce one day what are you going to do now that your educated and working for the city what do you own ?His answer was an older car and a few thousand dollars in the bank and a good job with the city.She told Bruce you have to buy some real estate it's a good investment.A little while later Bruce and his girlfriend broke up but her advice stuck in his head and kept nagging at him.Bruce was thinking how am I going to get some real estate I don't have any money.Bruce is a smart guy and loves to read and write and thought well I like Vancouver, maybe I can write a really good book on the history of my city! Well, even if you write a book you still need money to publish it he thought, where can I get some money?As luck would have it the Gov't was giving out grants for this sort of venture. So, Bruce applied for an $8,000.00 grant but only got $2,000.00. He went to complain the man in the office said apply again.Again Bruce only got $2,000,00, again he complained and yes the guy told him to apply again but this time they gave him $16,000.00 !Now the reason I mention this process in detail is because some things take time but Bruce was on a mission, nothing was going to deter him.So, Bruce went about searching old maps, pictures and famous people that contributed to Vancouver's history.After 10,000 hours and 3 years of putting his book together it was finally published !Bruce's book is now in every library in canada, he made about $ 120,000,00 and yes he bought his first piece of real estate .He bought 2 more houses on that street in a desireable area in Vancouver east. Then he got married and his wife had another home she brought into the equasion, wow !This did not stop Bruce from buying 2 more houses, this is when I met Bruce.Today Bruce has sold 2 of his homes but has bought a 40 suite apartment in the U.S. close to an Amazon store, pretty good rental area !Bruce recently bought a few more pieces of real estate in the U.S. .We call him Baron Bruce now ha ha ! Oh and he's writing an update to his book ! Well he isn't he has hired his nephew to do that.It just shows you that with a little idea and a lot of work and a little money you can accomplish a lot if you put your mind to it !As an ex crazy tenant of mine named Mad Dog once said you have to maintane !So, to all those people at WA including myself, we need to write lot's of good popular content and maintane.Oh, one more thing, of course I have Bruce's book and I must say it's really good and thorough and interesting.All the best to everyone at WA !
