Revised Climbing the Mountain of Success
If you've been following me you may recall I compared my efforts in learning how to swim to that of learning how to build an Internet business.
And, if you read my profile you are aware of the fact that I am a mountain girl all of the way; so not only did I become a very good swimmer, but I also loved climbing mountains, or repelling down the face of a cliff just as much as plunging into a lake or river for a refreshing swim. The truth of the matter is there were many activities I loved to do, fishing, mountain bike riding, swimming, hiking, rock climbing, camping, canoeing, white water rafting...and so much more. Each of these activities required physical strength, endurance and determination.
I remember my first mountain climb where we needed to use ropes. The place was called Devil's Tooth. I was 13 years old and it was the first time my Dad let me go with the older kids on the Devil's climb as us kids called it. They helped me to get the ropes on and off up the mountain we went.
Well there's one spot on this climb where the ledge of the trail had plunged to the valley floor about 50 feet below joining the bed of jagad rocks below; leaving a 15 to 20 foot gap in the narrow foot over foot ledge.
Forcing anyone who wanted to get to the other side to swing by rope. So that's what us kids were going to do; one of the older kids went over first and the other older kids stayed behind with us youger kids and I happened to be the last of the less experienced kids to swing over(there were 3 teenagers and 7 other kids in their early teens, I was the only first timer in the group).
Well there I was my heart was pounding in my ears, my sweaty palms trembling, my knees were so weak that my foot lost traction as I pushed off to swing to the other side, and was unable to put enough power behind my jump. I had the rock wall of the other side in my hand but my grip was not strong enough to hold on. So there I was swinging in mid air up side down screaming my lungs out as my head began to throb from the blood rushing to it and my body continued to bang into the cliff wall. The instructions of the older kids was falling on ears that could hear nothing but my own trobing heart.
As I stopped swinging I realized I had to listen to the older kids if I ever wanted to get my feet on solid ground again, and so I did.
I've been thinking about that incident the last few days, because on the 24th of June I made a miss step of sorts when I canceled my Premium Membership here at WA. For whatever reason I thought that if I canceled my Premium Membership here at WA I would still be able to use the other features of WA that was offered to the free members of WA.
I was wrong I was locked out totally, I contacted Kyle feeling very much like that 13 year old girl swinging upside down in mid air from the ropes on the side of that mountain. Once again I was being deafened by my pounding heart as I most diffenatly had an upside prospective on things. Kyle reminded me of the older teen telling me how to right myself and start swinging to get the momentum to move forward with my Internet business
He reassured me that as soon as I started paying my dues I could carry on from where I left off as long as it was with in 30 days.
So for the last 8 days it's been like me swinging on the ropes in an effort to gain enough momentum to get across this financial gap and continue my climb up the mountain of success.
It's easier for me to pay bills at the beginning of the month, so that's why I waited for the first week of the month. But I didn't waste time while I was locked out of WA I started to swing again and get momentum to grab onto my WA Premium Membership once the money became available. I kept myself busy writing This blog that I would post on WA once I resumed my WA membership and saved it on my tablet. Well, as you can see I didn't have my first blog ready to post when I resumed my WA membership a few days back.
I'm back on track the view is breath taking, and I'm ready to continue my climb by working on my website. Going back to Devil's mountain a little higher in the mountain there was a section where a large portion of the mountain face slid leaving a smooth granite surface, getting past this obstacle was going to take a little different tactic. Without getting too technical, it was basically an anchoring system that one of the older kids set up for the group so we could cross this large granted face. So just as blogging is one way to build an Internet business and I've got a few of those under my belt, now it's time for me to listen to a few videos as to how to go abut building a website.
So here I am that intimidated 13 year old girl making my way across the self of granite by gaining the skills I need to go rom writing blogs to starting to construct a profitable website.
I do know that I have plenty of help, and I'm sure I will make miss steps in the future but with the ropes of the WA community on me I won't fall far.
So be sure and visit my website grannysgonecamping.com and share the journey with my Mother and I

good story,
I was anticipating more of the lesson learned from hanging in the gap and being guided on how to get swinging again
bringing in the story of the snake took the energy out of the rope incident
yes you were scared, then embarrassed, but you learned how to recover from a mistake and now you have an experience that the other kids who laughed at you do not have
the connection with your experience of your Premium membership here at WA was good, but lost the impact with the snake story
all the best as you continue to climb!
Thanks for the useful and honest critique, I realized I should have left the snake story out.
I think I'm going to do a follow up blog on my mountain climb, much like I did with my 2nd blog on swimming. And I've learned a lesson as to what I should include in my blog and what to leave out.
Is there anyway I can edit the blog I've already published?
From now on I will stick with my outline.
Regards
Johnie
HI johnie,
you can always go back in and edit your post, or just leave as is
you do tell a good story, so keep doing that -- & focus in on a point to your story
all the best,
Thanks, I found the option where I could edit or delete my post and replace it with one that was better written. I'm working on a re-write of the blog right now.
I'm also going to start watching the videos on how to build my website today and start doing that as well.
Thanks again for all of your help
Johnie
great!
just take it 1 step at a time, just think of climbing the mountain, you cannot take the next step until you have taken the 1st!
all the best,
Thank you
I'm finding this step to be a huge one...it's more like scaling a granite wall pounding one stake at a time and struggling for each inch I gain.
keep looking up!
& reaching for the summit!
