How to Improve Your Blogging Skills
Hi WA Fam,
I just want to share something that I have learned over the past few days on how to improve our blogging skills. These techniques are probably also mentioned in the training as well but I got this from books that I am reading and from social media marketing class that I am taking. I hope this will help you become more efficient in blogging.
Write an Outline of Your Blog Before Your Sleep
I know right, it sounds crazy! According to Micheal Hyatt, author of Platform, if you brainstorm or write your outline before you sleep, then your brain will continue to process the information especially during REM phase of your sleep. As a result, you actually refine your thoughts while you sleep. Amazing!
Great Writing Habits Trumps Writter's Block
John Maxwell mentioned in his book, "15 Irrefutable Laws of Growth", that if you want to be a successful in something, like blogging or authoring a book, then you need to practice the "Law of Consistency."
In other words, you need to develop a healthy habit that will help you succeed in your blogging/ online business career.
To do this, you need to pick a time and place to do your blog. It has to be same time and same place doing the same thing everyday. By doing this, you can successfully eliminate writer's blog because as soon as your brain picks up the que that you are about to write a blog, then it will automatically goes to work mode. (Don't forget to reward yourself after)
Use Buffer to Automatically Publish Your Blog on Schedule
I think one of the best thing that could happen to us is when we are on fire writing entries for our blog, but does this mean we have to post every single post? Absolutely not!
Keep it consistent. If you post 3 times a week, and you post it every Friday, Monday, and Wednesday night, then you should not change that. Your readers will expect specific number of post per week on a specific day and will probably not going to be extra happy if the numbers changes every week.
My advice is to use "Buffer". Buffer is a free software that will post your blogs on the date you specified. The advantage of using this is you can create a lot of post in one day but spread the publishing frequency throughout the week. This is also helpful especially on days when you cannot think of anything to post.
What is Your Technique?
So there you go, those are the new things that I learned that helps me be more efficient and effective in blogging.
What do you think about my new technique? Do you think it is helpful or meh?
What about you? Do you have a "secret" technique that you use to make sure you consistently publish a high quality post? If yes, do you mind sharing?
Cheers,
John Greg

Thanks John! Useful tips indeed, I´ll try writing an outline before I go to sleep, I am really curious to see how that goes! :)
Hi
I am glad that you find this helpful. Hopefully, it works for you as well.
I know before when I need to do public speaking I try to memorize my piece before I sleep. Works really well for me.

Hi,
Thanks for sharing.
What I will advise in your case is to think of your friends, family, co-worker etc that might get excited about your topic.
Then when writing a post, think of how you will explain it to them. Imagine what questions that they will ask, how are they going to respond, etc.
Do not try to write for everyone. Just think of writing to a few specific people even if those people are "hypothetical"
I hope that helps.

John, I found your post to be most informative. - I am still in the learning stages (Phase #3, Lesson #1 - Bootcamp) but I am
saving your post and will benefit from it later.

Hi Beginshere,
I am so glad that you are liking my post. I strive to always post something that adds value to the lives of my readers.
Please help me to accomplish this goal by asking questions or suggesting topics that you need help with. I will do my best to post relevant topics in response.
Regards,
John Greg
I'd be glad to help, John. I've got a couple of million
suggestions/questions. - Now that I'm in Bootcamp
it appears that my lack of technical knowledge is
having a detrimental effect and causing me to slow
down on the real goal of writing as many posts as
I can.
For example, I recently switched my website from a
site.rubix to a domain that I purchased. - I then gave
in to suggestions that I change the name of my
website and entitle it the same as my domain
name (my domain name is my real name).
While I was trying to change my website I realized
that I didn't have any idea what I was doing - The
back office (the part that deals with technical issues)
is completely foreign to me. It seems when I try
to correct one problem it creates two others.
For example I was told that my site had too many
capital letters (apparently some people interpret
caps as screaming) so when I tried to correct
this issue I ran into many problems.
As my site stands now each post has different size
letters and the paragraphs are all messed up.
I think the only answer is for me to go through
my site post by post and try to "edit" them and
make them all uniform.
This gets me down because I have about 10 or
11 posts so far and some of them are pretty long
so it appears I have a huge job in front of me.
Added to that is the fact that while I'm doing
that I am unable to continue adding new ones.
Don't mean to complain - I'm still very upbeat.
I guess I'm saying there should be some primary
or instruction showing how to gain control over
your website and not get lost in the back office.
Sorry for the long message, John. - I'll try to
be more "3-minute manager" in the future.
Regards,
John
