Visitor count keeps going down

I just checked analytics because my visitor count has been in the mid 40's. It was 34 just now. I added my header back because some said people may not want to scroll down to see the posts.

Well, they can feel free to go to another site then. I like the header and if that's the problem then oh well. Is anyone else having an ongoing problem like I am? I just can't understand why I went to an average of 200 or more to 34 now. And yes, I have checked everything.

Anyone else having this problem? I am pissed. A site that is almost a year old. Almost 90 posts now. Used to have 200 or more visitors on average. I am disgusted more and more with each check of my analytics. How can a person make a dime let alone a livlihood with this?

My site can't be that bad.

Below I have attached the latest from analytics and also an attachment showing my trust site. Strange.

I hope you have got it sorted regardless

Hello Gayle. I changed my theme today as someone recommended and I will check the analytics sometime next week sine this is the fourth of July weekend.

Havevyou tried changing your theme. I think I used generate press since that was recommended. Let's get in touch next week to see if there are any changes

Cheers John, I'll give it a go.

I think it happens because Google changes its algorithms on how they monitor and assess each website. Or maybe because of the signs of time. It may change for the better pretty soon I suppose. Florentino

Hey jon, I’ve had the same issues and honestly sometimes this happens. From time to time you’ll have tons of visitors and other times not as many. There are lots of things that can affect this like season change if it’s something people may be more interested in at a ceartin time of year. Also consider the covid 19 pandemic could be playing a major part as well. Right now people are shifting focus from a lot of things. It sounds like you’ve worked very hard on this website and one thing you can do to ensure you’ll keep visitors.Become involved on your website keep discussions going on your site with your customers /readers. Developing a relationship with your customer base is very important and could potentially be the problem. But either way don’t panic I’m sure you’ll get it sorted out if I can help in anyway let me know.

All the best ,
Jonathon

Thanks for the comment, Jon. I have no customers. No customer base at all. So can't develop a relationship with them.

Thanks again.

Google, once or twice a year, change the algorithms with which they monitor websites. The last one was April this year. When this happens, most people experience a temporary decrease in visitors. I went from 2,000 visitors a month to 1,000 right now. I had the same in August 2018.
I agree with you that this is very annoying. Yet, the experts here tell us that this will happen again and again. So, gradually your website will recover.
Mind you, you will need to check your site against latest Google requirements, this April one is mostly about site and page speed.
Check with site support if you are on the new beta servers, have Kraken installed to optimize image seize and consider changing your theme to Generate Press.

Thanks for the info. Google has already gotten on my nerves. With regards to changing my theme, I have no idea how to do that and am afraid that I might mess up my whole site.

I'm fed up with this non-sense. Speed page is fine depending on where I go to check it. I may install kraken but then it will tell me I have too many plugins. Pathetic. Everything.

I'll check with site support about the new beta servers which I don't even know what they mean.

I see Google as a black box. We throw something in, they do something with it and then something comes out. We use WA as they give us the best advice as to how to feed Google best.

Your website dashboard has a button called customize. Press it and you will see your website to the right and a menu to the left. There is a button called change theme and you can choose from there. Just try it out as you can first only preview and see what happens.

If you decide on another theme, it is advisable, as a precaution, to back-up your site first. I had no problem changing to Generate Press whatsoever. It was done in minutes!

As to plugins, it is advised that you should not use more than 4 or 5, as too many might affect site speed.

Thanks, I will try the theme change Friday morning. How do I do a backup??

You go websites>site manager>login>tools>export. Save all your content. Once done, save it in a logical place, where you can easily find it later. Process will only take a minute.

Many thanks!! I will do both on Friday. You've been a great help.

Thanks siam. I did the backup and changed my theme to generate press with no problems. My question is, how often are we supposed to update themes and how do we know which ones to update to?

For example, you told me about generate press but how did you know to update your site to that?

You update when the situation asks for it. In this case it was to increase site/page speed and update to the new Google search algorithms. In my six years before I updated only once to adapt to a mobile friendly theme.
Generate Press is mobile friendly as well, which you will need as more and more people switch to mobile phones instead of desk or lap tops.

Thanks!
