Stall and spin!
One of the most deadly things a pilot can do...
- If we pull up too abruptly we can stall the airplane...
- Usually a tailspin follows and if too near the ground, the inevitable happens!
- Modern airplanes have "stick shakers" to warn the pilot he is about to stall.
- The old "Ercoupe" and the Piper "Tri-Pacer" were designed to just stall and shudder.
That can happen in the internet business!
- You can rise too quickly and not plant your business on solid ground...
- And fall just as quickly.
- Planning is required... thought must be given to every little detail.
- It's usually the little things, unforeseen things that trip us.
- Didn't allow enough time to grow your business... rushed ahead... no forethought.
- Recognize that you made a mistake and change.
- Get up and dust yourself off and start all over again (actually, the title of a song).
- It's what you do about it that makes a difference.
- Will I throw up my hands and go to another fall, or...
- Maybe bandage myself up and move on... stall, but don't crash!
How about this quote from Sir Richard Branson:
"The best lessons are usually learned from failure. You musn't beat yourself up if you fail - just pick yourself up, learn as much as you can from the experience and get on with the next challenge... the brave may not live forever, but the cautious never live at all."
Stall, but don't spin...

That picture of falling down the stairs - ouch. Great lesson for today as well- you mustn't beat yourself up if you fail - just pick yourself up

Hi Joe,
The "Hersey Bar" wing on the Cherokee wouldn't let you even stall, but let you just mush along, let alone spin.
But on the B707 that was a different story. On training flights when that old "stick shaker" went off you didn't just mush along you were going to go down unless you did something fast.
The key is what you said, just recover from your mistakes and press on.
I love your analogies, that's again for sharing.

So true Bill. Thanks.
