PHP. who needs it?
You do!
We all do! You can't get by without it.
Yesterday I was running the "site health" on my Word Press website when this problem showed up: "PHP is outdated". I did a little research and found the answer I needed... don't mess with it!
So, I went straight to our Site help to get an answer. Within minutes I had my answer. The answer was so important I want to share it with you so you can get an idea of what is coming from our great platform. Here's their response:
"Hi Joe,
Great to hear from you and yes we can absolutely move your website over to our brand new server class which includes PHP 7 and updated database software. That's not all though, our new hosting class has been in the works for well over 1 year and the performance of this class of servers is absolutely incredible.
- Faster Servers (means more rankings in Google!)
- Better Memory Management
- Stronger Security
- Website efficiency is improved through proprietary technology
- SiteSpeed 2.0 (our latest caching technology)
- Far improved server stability
- SSL certificates default for all websites
- Kraken Image Optimization is included (see blog post: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/carson/blog/kraken-image-optimization-now-at-wealthy-affiliate)
- 100's of other server optimizations included
We are in the process of updating our entire network by moving entire servers over to this powerful new server class, but we will be happy to move your site right now.
Moving your website will not incur any downtime - this is typically not something other hosts could do, but our hosting platform at WA allows for moving your website without downtime.
Once moved, there will be a short period where image uploads may not work. This is due to the fact that your domain is being moved to an entirely new server and that change needs to propagate throughout the internet. In most cases, this takes a few hours, but it can take up to 24. You can still publish content, customize themes and plugins, update existing content, but uploading images/files may not work during this DNS propagation period."
You have chosen the best platform anywhere... Wealthy Affiliate!

I've pondered whether to respond to your message and show my ignorance- especially since everybody seems to know all about it , but on the off chance there is another Wa'er who feels as ignorant as I do- one always feels better when one has company. I checked my website yesterday and just now and my details are the same- no outdated messages-it always tells me the site is getting better.
Well, wonderful. I'm glad something great is happening. Just so It doesn't mess up my website. If it makes things better, then it's all good.
Hi Joe, thank you for the heads up. I just took a look at my PHP version and it is, server version 7.2.10. This update was supposed to have happened several months ago. I think people should check their version first before they contact site support.

Gracias Joe, por compartir la información.
GerardoThanks Joe, for sharing the information.
Thanks, Joe, I was wondering about the same, I have seen the same message for a bit as well. Will have that upgraded.

PHP is the programming language used to build and maintain WordPress. Newer versions of PHP are faster and more secure, so staying up to date will help your site’s overall performance and security. The minimum recommended version of PHP is 7.3.
My website PHP is out of date. Do you think site support will upgrade for me?
Yes. Ask them.
I asked site support. The answer is to ignore the warning. Maybe that time my website is incomplete yet. I will ask again and ask for upgrading directly. Allow me to use "I read your post about PHP upgrading is important". Thanks in advance. I will let you know the result. Keep it between us. Site support is excellent for me.
Thanks.
Let me know.
Joe
Hello Joes, below is the answer from site support. meaning there is no need to upgrade the PHP. I must find a THEME needs PHP 7.3 for upgrading, am I right?
The server where your site is hosted on has PHP 7.2. If any installed theme or plugin requires PHP 7.3 then let us know. Else you can safely ignore the warning as it will not create any issue in site performance.
Sounds correct, so you are good to go.
Joe
At first, the site support said already move to new server but later change his word. I will talk to Kyle.
