I Purchased a Theme

*Disclaimer, this is not a promotion for theme, it's just my experience with it*

Earlier this year I saw an advertisement on YouTube for an awesome website theme called Divi, not only was the commercial funny, but it also convinced me that I needed to be creating my website differently.

You see with Divi you can customize the look and feel of your website without using any code and this really appealed to me as you could see the changes to your website in real time. I was sold.

So I took a visit to their website and realized that the offer they had was even better. You actually get acces to about 87 different themes, which you can use on an unlimited amount of websites and 3 premium plugins that they developed. Essentially, you were joining a program.

And after browsing through their themes I knew that I had to have this specific one for my website, the Extra theme. I saved up my money and finally purchased it a few weeks after
I first viewed the ad.

However, after I installed the theme I realized that I had a huge learning curve ahead of me. Everything seemed so confusing at first, almost nothing like I saw in the advertisement.

It took me days to fully grasp the main components of the theme and how to use the Divi Builder plugin that they recommend. That's how you make website creation visual.

Anyways, fast forward a week or so and I finally got the hang of it. My homepage is finally looking more like how I imagined. The only thing is I haven't figured out how to feature a video in my slider.

The look and feel of the website is getting much better and I'm satisfied.

Fast forward a few more weeks again to today. I've fleshed out more of my site now and added more content. I discovered how to create epic long form blog posts, but I'm still having trouble with a few minor things like:
- Adding my social media follow buttons to the sidebar
- Adding polls to my posts
- and after reading Kyle's blog post on The Google PageSpeed Test I realized how slow my site is loading

The thing with me is that I'm just so anxious about building my site I barely have the patience to sit down and watch all the tutorials on how to use the theme, but I guess if I really want to make the best out of it then I should take some time out of my week and just watch them all.

I'd like to hear from you Wealthy Affiliates. What are your thoughts on premium themes? Do you have one or not and why?

Thanks for reading guys!

I have blogs that have free themes and then have blogs that have premium themes.

The premium themes all have something extra to offer but most of them do have a learning curve. The good news is that once you figure out one it is easier to figure out the next one.

Which sites do you prefer? The free or paid themes?

And that seems to make sense. By the time I'm ready to start a new site I should be a pro at it.

Yeah, I decided to re-do my website in Word Press and Divi is the theme to go. However dreading the learning curve myself.

Haha! That's awesome that you have the same theme. I'm going to go have a look at your website.

Yeah, that's why I'm going to that theme.
Read my blog "Beware of the Wix site building tool" and you will know why.

Duly noted. Will check it out now
