The Fear of Losing Financial Security (part 2 of 4)
After a 4 year study break which I failed miserably due to not knowing what I wanted to do for a career I re-entered the workforce in mid 2006.
Did a solid year of temping for minimum wage with the thought of "how long is this going to last?" Each assignment was different but I put in the same amount of effort. Above and beyond. A wise female colleague once told me to always give more than you're worth. Employers loved me because I would do the work of 2 people. Employees resented me but not all of them.
There were those that appreciated my strong work ethic as it resonated well with them. The best experience I had was being part of a 3 man team in a timber yard. We gelled so well together our rapport was almost on a psychic level.
2 of us were temps. Both of us worked with the intention of gaining full-time employment. He was only one year out of high school and hoping to secure his first full-time job. I on the other hand at age 30 just wanted 'A' job. A vacancy became available and we applied.
in my interview I had intellectual interests listed as my hobbies on my resume to which the interviewer laughed at. 10 minutes into the interview he told me straight that I wasn't the right candidate. His reason was I would get bored quickly. I was gobsmacked but later it was announced that my friend got the job to which I was sincerely happy. I then moved on.
My next assignment was devanning containers. We were a crew of 30 temps. Again I was teamed up with 2 others. One was morbidly obese and couldn't keep up and the other guy was just like me if not better. The 2 of us saw it as a challenge wanting to prove our worth we smoked it leaving the other teams behind eating our dust.
That afternoon another temp with an alpha male complex approached us. it was obvious he had something to say considering his body language. "Man you guys are fast aye. Take it easy man you might hurt yourselves." Looking over both his shoulders he returned his gaze back to us and said " I used to be like you guys but now that I know what the boys are like here it's all good. Just relax coz dats how we dooz it here bro."

Applying your work ethic to your own business will reap the rewards you deserve. Affiliate marketing is hard work and with your attitude of going above and beyond you should have great success. Wishing you the career you were meant to have.
My current employer helped me to understand myself better by asking me some simple questions. Motivation is key to success depending on where that motivation comes from. Was once told that the key to finding everything is LOVE. Love for oneself, love for others, doing the things one loves, etc. Love begets love. In a sense a fulfilling successful career path is meant to involve the betterment of mankind. Thanks Sharon:)
I understand how you feel here. Sometimes people in workplace had a different kind of work ethnic than others... sounds like you found the right spot with WA... look forward to reading more.
Thanks for the understanding. Older and wiser now my understanding of oneself is more complete now. WA indeed is the right spot as I've come full circle that started 7 years ago when I first learned of affiliate marketing. Had no substance then but now a full arsenal of work experience to share.
