They can be a distraction from the day to day mundane activities. I wouldn't suggest competing with those, just do your own thing.

Whenever you take any action on WA use it to hone your business building skills. For example:

Test your writing skills on your WA blog to help you do a better job on your website.

When you get comments on your website posts it helps your ranking. Offer comments in Site Comments to earn credits to request comments yourself.

Participate in the dialog on WA. It will help you do a better job in responding to people who comment on your website articles.

Ask questions on WA to help you with your online business.

These are just a few things you can do on WA to help you to succeed in your business. The side effect is they also raise your rank in WA.

Hi Joseph, although it is nice to have a nice ranking number, know it is only a number and it should not be your main focus.

You have got some excellent answers below. Being active on a daily basis with comments and posts certainly will help. At no time should you lose your focus on why you are here. For me, I am here to create a supplemental income via my website. I feel your main focus should always be on creating quality content on a regular basis for your site.

I try to be active here, but my rank has stayed the same for ten days now. It does distract me. My website has to come first as should yours.

That is only my opinion Joseph.

You can focus on your website by creating valuable content while improving your WA rank. No need to focus directly on WA rank. I posted two new articles in one day on my Website and WA rank improved.
