sslAffiliate marketers work very hard to certify their authority around their niche. The authority bit happens over time with a lot of hard work going into it. The last thing you want is for your audience to be told your website is unsafe. Its like visiting the premises of a shop and then being met with a big sign saying beware building is unsafe. I will leave you to imagine the effect.

HTTPS

What is HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure ? According to Wikipedia it is an extension of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) for secure communication over a computer network, and is widely used on the Internet. In short, it makes your site secure and encrypts data used on the website. This includes data on credit cards and prevents that data from falling into the wrong hands.

There has been a lot of information regarding google recognizing HTTPS domains as a more reliable website in comparison to HTTP. One of the reasons that made Wealthy Affiliates include that as a standard feature for its premium customers. One brilliant because if you have ever tried purchasing HTTPS on its own, you will realise it is a minefield out there. I will spare you the trouble of narrating why, for another day.

Not Secure

Let me not bore you with the theory of HTTPS, and dive straight into why you are reading this blog. When you have finally gotten HTTPS, and in the good books of google the last thing you want is to finally find out that your web page can not even load up because it is not secure.

Apart from that your audience are being told your site is not secure so they should run for their lives. How do you get round this. There is no geeky fix to this so don't get your heart pumping. If I were you I would rather get a cup of tea or coffee as we the British do, because it is going to be plain sailing from here. I can't wait to reveal the secret. LOL

Wealthy Affiliate Websites

When you see the error message, log out of your unsecured website and head straight back to wealthy affiliate. Go to Website and site domains or click this link https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/domains and click on the website in question.

Turn off SiteSSL (HTTPS)

See belowBack to the website

After turning off HTTPS, log back into your website. This time you will find out that the error isn't showing but you will still notice the announcement of not secure on your web browser. One less glaring and as you may well know, people continue to log into websites despite this. However, you still want to resolve the issue of safely by using HTTPS to get the recognition you deserve from google and your audiences who understand the power of it. You can now work on your website if you couldn't do that before. There is a glimmer of hope. There may also be instances where you can skip this section, but just in case that doesn't work.

Back to Wealthy Affiliates

You now have the magic hands to turn on the knob for Site SSL (HTTPS) as you did initially before you had the problem.

Safe and Secure

Thanks for your post sir, but I don't I can turn off my SSL bcos it's make you website unsecure, scary and childish in my eye. I turn off my website as you instruct then i now login in my web browser. I it's frighten in my eye and turn on again.
Again so many site or customer user has got know about https and http. If you site is not secure you lack traffic. Because not every would like to use the website for anything.

Once again a said thank you.

The article is about those who despite turning on their SSL they find out that their browser is displaying as un-secure.
If your SSL is turned on and your browser is showing as secure then you have nothing to worry about.
It is better to reset an https browser showing as un-secure because not only does it tell your audience the site is not secure, they may not even get access to the website. Besides the encounters I have had all happens when I am building my site. That is during the initial launch when no one knows about it.
Hope this makes sense. Give me a shout if you need further clarification.

Thanks Joseph!
What could cause a secure site to revert back to being unsecure?
KyleAnn

There might be some sort of glitch. If that happens just reset your siteSSL.

That happened to me the other day. My site all of a sudden said it was unsecure.

I did a bunch of troubleshooting come to find out all I hadd to do was reset the SSL.

Hope this helps :)
Marlinda

Hi KyleAnn,
I think Marlinder has beautifully answered your question. However, I must state that the encounters I have had has been during the initial launch of a website, when chrome is trying to make sense of the secure certificate.
Hope this helps, if need further assistance please don’t hesitate to give me a shout.

WA makes it easy to be secure.
Debbie
