If you had one minute to define the phrase "True Community", what would you include on that definition? At the end of this sentence, stop reading and while looking at your watch for 60 seconds define the phrase on your on words; ready, GO!.
The Official Definition
Now, while your definitions is fresh in your mind, let's read the definition from the Oxford online dictionary:
Community: /kəˈmyo͞onədē/ - a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.
Although we can argue that we all live in the same planet, we are more than 1.2M members covering a lot of territory around the earth. However, it is the second part of the above definition I would like to focus on: "a group of people having a characteristic in common". Let me explain why this is so important to me.
The Experience on My Own
Before I joined Wealthy Affiliate, I did not have a clue of how to start my own business online. I had a healthy understanding of the internet and its capabilities, but I could never come around gaining enough knowledge to even start experiencing the online world from a service or product provider's perspective. Fast forward to last Monday (3 days ago) when I started a website in 30 minutes.

When I say 30 minutes, that includes choosing a domain, selecting a theme, loading up the site and starting to add content, pictures, etc. It is important to point out that this would not have been possible for me without the knowledge that the Wealthy Affiliate platform provides. However, for two days I tried to work with the theme I have selected and it was a nightmare.
I finally decided to switch themes (hint: do not be afraid of making changes. This platform is awesome). Within three or four minutes, the new theme was loaded and I was in my way to complete the site. However, every change I was making on my new site was taking 60 to 120 seconds to save. I could not load pictures, nothing was working the way I though it would. At that point I decided it was enough. I had wasted 2 days and had failed. Or did I?
True Community - What Community Means To Me
I sent a question to the community from my profile page. Within 4 minutes I got my first
answer. By minute 12, I had four members provide their experienced answer and by minute 20, here all that had been accomplished:
- I have gotten the direct link to SiteSupport
- I have learned about PageSpeed and the great speed at which my site was running
- I have submitted my request into SiteSupport
- I have received a couple more responses with awesome information
- I have learned about "Website Speed optimization"
- SiteSupport has responded with the answer to my problem
20 minutes... I had spent 2 days trying to figure things out on my own. I think there is a lesson to be learned there. Do you agree?
For those of you wondering, the issue was my wonderful (wink, wink) internet provider...
So, if you ask me how I define the phrase "True Community", I can read to you the above information again, or I can simple say:
True Community is Wealthy Affiliate community, who has one characteristic in common - Your Success.
Thank You, Wealthy Affiliate Community!
