The Enemy Within - How To Stay in the Battle
It is really difficult to fight what can not be seen and it is almost impossible to win against what can not be perceived. In order for each of us to have a chance to stay in the daily battle towards success, we have to be able to identify what has the potential to bring us down or get us out of the fight. For that reason we need to clearly identify those "negatively impacting factor(s)", which I called the enemy within.
The Baseline
In order to set a baseline, consider the following quote from Michael Strahan:"We're our own worst enemy. You doubt yourself more than anybody else ever will. If you can get pass that, you can be successful." Maybe this does not apply to you and therefore your success is either obvious or you are really close to achieving the level of success you are seeking. But I have to confess that I am in the grind every day, but still I am in the fight.
The Enemies
After careful consideration, I was able to clearly identify the main factors keeping me from achieving my daily full potential. That is why I call them my enemies. I quickly realized that I can not see them, but I can perceive them. Since I am able to sense when these enemies are approaching, I am now able to take the necessary steps to fight them before they take over. More on that later. I have highlighted three of these enemies because they are very persistent:
- Distraction
- Frustration
- Feeling Overwhelmed
Each of these has a devastating effect on my productivity, but their most effective attack is when they show up together. When that happen, productivity is near zero and it is difficult to learn. For that reason, it is important to know them, understand their effect and learn how to fight them.
You Have to Stay in it To Win It
In order to achieve the success that you are looking for, you have to work through whatever is in between you and winning. Make sure to have a weekly and daily plan and take as many steps as you are able towards the direction of success. But the point is that you have to stay on the fight. Otherwise, success will never be achieved.
Since you are reading this blog post, that means you are in the fight, you are seeking, learning and applying that knowledge to move forward. Staying in the battle is half of the equation, one side of the coin. On my next blog post I will share my lessons learned and the steps I am taking to tangibly win and achieve success.
In the mean time, would you share the enemies you may be dealing with? Was it difficult to identify them? If you have identified.

Feeling overwhelmed is the biggest one for me. It seems to lead to frustration, and then any little distraction grabs my attention. Thanks for sharing such an illuminating post!
Yes Nancy29. For whatever reason, these three usually hangout together. Now let's kick them to the curve and keep them from taking over.
Thank you for your comments!

I am my own worst enemy! I blame time but really it is my bad use of it or wrong estimation of how much of it I need to complete tasks.
For me, the worst two out of the three you mentioned are "distraction" and "feeling overwhelmed". Trying to do too many things at the same time is also a problem and I end up taking longer to do them than I would have done if I had done them all separately.
Thanks J.
Great job in identifying your true enemies. Let's work towards eliminating or at least mitigating their effect Rob001.

You are so right , the only way to win is you have to take the shot. Perserverence will win the game. But we as Humans need to take a timeout once in a while to engage thing related to family which will help recharge the battery. Good Write up and Thx Russ
