Have You Ever

Have you ever had a thought, idea or maybe a spark of brilliance that you let slip away? Well, maybe not slip away, you simply forgot. During that extraordinary moment did you doubt yourself thinking it would never happen? Or did you not pursue it further because their were responsibilities that needed your immediate attention?

Often, that happens to me. I have even kept a pencil and pad on my nightstand just in case a spark of genius occurs. But my pages are blank. We all have busy lives. But all of us also have what I like to call "me time" or a moment to exhale.

"Me time." That implies that some of, if not most of my time is not mine at all. I am [family aside] doing and working for others not because I want to but because I have to. The actions I perform daily are necessary for my well-being. My priorities dictates my life. How dare I break away from my normal existence?

I do not have time to pursue anything else. I cannot live because I choose to exist. For me this is where I question society and community ethics. Most may say, "If it ain't broke don't fix it." If humanity and morality are not priorities then the ethics of such a society is broke.

Distractions

Those thoughts that you did not remember because of some distraction can be utilized if you change your thought process. Those actions you perform daily that you think are necessary for your well-being may not necessarily be the case.

Try reversing the paradigm. Many think that what takes away from their ability to exist in life is the distraction. They are wrong. In fact, I say that todays' society and what they would have you think are necessities for one's well-being are the distraction.

Brilliant entrepreneurs and other people in their chosen profession became successful because they pursued what they wanted and let everything else be the distraction they had to bear. See one can easily get caught-up with their day-to-day responsibilities.

However, recognizing it for what it is, shows the self-aware successful person that there is more to life. Not knowing what is important and what really matters most will have you always searching for "me time."
