Sitemap not working, I think

Hi All,

I don't think my sitemap plugin is working correctly. I'm using Google XML Sitemaps. When I click on settings then sitemap at the top it says

"Your sitemap is being refreshed at the moment. Depending on your blog size this might take some time!

Due to limitations of the WordPress scheduler, it might take another 60 seconds until the build process is actually started."

It always says this, is that normal? It says it was last built on January 5th. But my new pages don't seem to be getting submitted. Am I doing something wrong???

Thanks

Jill

Hey, I'm also getting a sitemap error, saying "Error, the page is HTML", or somethin' like that. Oh well.

Sitemap
Code line doesn't post it. Here is again

Sorry, cannot post it code line (don't know why). The idea is to make a link called "Sitemap" with the link you copied from your Google XML sitemap plugin (should be yourdomain/sitemap.xml)

I tell you now what I was doing on my sites an works just fine.
First you need to install Google XML Sitemap plugin activate and configure it. Then put a text widget on your footer (if you could not put it in your footer, put it in your sidebar)In the text widget don't put anything on Title but put this code in the body
Sitemap
Now in your footer(or sidebar) appear a link Sitemap
The idea is that Google see your Sitemap link and indexed your content much faster.

Yes All In One SEO is a good one to use.

Hi - do you have All In One SEO installed too?

It's latest version has a sitemap built in - and I know that, and the Google XML Sitemaps clash with each other.

Just a thought, to try and narrow down where the problem may be.

All the best, Mark

Oh, I do I have all in one SEO, I didn't realize you didn't need both. Jay's recent training on google webmaster tools talked about adding a sitemap plugin??

Hi - the most up to date All In One SEO added a sitemap feature. It does exactly the same as the standalone plugin - also notifies Google, Bing etc when you add a new post/page (you can also force it to resubmit when you want as well).

But I have seen other members have issues (not exactly the same as the error you're getting) - so it may just be a conflict.

All the best, Mark
