WA Burnout

I have been staying under the radar lately on WA, partly because I have been working a lot of overtime at work and partly because of the WA Boot Camp. I was able to make it about half way through Phase 3, but I have quickly burned out.

I am hoping I can overcome this, as I have found WA has given much a HUGE amount of information, training and motivation. The problem is it requires a huge amount of time, time that I would really like to devote to my family. If I were retired and did not have a full time job, WA would be a perfect fit.

I am a premium member with a about 5 months left on my yearly association with WA. With a little break I may find more motivation, but after investing a lot of time with really no return, it is hard to justify investing more time.

I am not on a rant, just looking at reality. Anyway, thanks to everyone in WA! There is a wealth of knowledge, a knowledge base that is located on one site that otherwise would be very difficult to piece together.

Don't take this a negative, WA does have good "bang for the buck" and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in affiliate marketing.

Good luck,
James

Geez, I've only just started and I feel burned out. Just did my first website, can't figure out anything, and seem to hit a wall at every turn, some people know me well already in Live Chat, NOT how I wanted to make friends. I said I was going to do so many hours a day, but realize that it just snowballs when you have a problem, so now I'm just doing what I can, and if it gets too much, I'm taking a break. This schedule seems to work well with my psyche, even if it does take a month to get my site working.

I've paid for a year, so have a lot further to go, but I figure if I just do a few days a week, I'm doing something, and it doesn't wipe out my life. Anyway, hopefully that works, like I said, I'm just starting, but when I think of this as more of a hobby, I don't seem to get so stressed when I hit a wall. Maybe you should just take a break, or rework it to fit your life, you know, less hrs, etc. I quit once before and obviously got nowhere, so figure if we just do a little now and then, then we're still moving forward, and even if you're going slow, you're still getting somewhere . Anyway, good luck to you whatever you decide to do.

I know it can get hard sometimes but if it's something you wish to do I suggest you give it another go. never give up... you'll get there someday. All we need to do is just plain hustle and we're half way there... :)

Thanks, I'll stick it out, I know sometimes you never know what can happen!

Don't sweat it! It's very easily to get burned out when trying to make a living on the internet (especially for guys). The key is to find a balance and to track the work you do and take adequate breaks. When I first started with IM it was easy to overwork or lose hours in a day. Then I came across http://www.pomodorotechnique.com/. It's a great productivity tool to help you be more productive and to avoid burnout. I recommend that you start working in pomodoros (checkout the link above to learn more) and you might deal better with burnout.

Thanks Thys, I'll have to check it out.

I know what you mean as well. I spend hours at my laptop and wonder when things will really begin to break open for me. I get tired and wonder why. And then, darn it, a new idea hits me for a post or an article and off I go researching and writing. It's now becoming more about putting good information up that I would be looking for online and what others may be looking for.

I actually feel good thinking someone may benefit from something I've written and so I keep plugging away, trusting the experts here that say do this or that and you will succeed...financially. I believe I'm already succeeding by helping people.

Don't give up, be patient. I'm enjoying your stuff in the social networks. Do what you can and when you can.

Good post, I think it's making us all take a step back and examine what we're doing and evaluating where we are.

Thanks Rick and thanks for the following and support.

You were the inspiration for my latest blog on WA. All the best to you.

Good advice, check out the comment I made above about the pomodoro technique

A guy has gotta do what I guys gotta do, I am kind of in the same boat, but I am approaching retirement, Just trying to get a head start, slow going but steady on the learning curve. I decided in the beginning I would be in it for the long haul, so we shall see. Anyway all the best to you and yours, take care and see you later.

Yes, this would be great if I were retired

Think of how far you have come. You are doing good. I know that I get burned out and sometimes I walk away for a few days! I may join in chat or comment on some things. Also, I found that setting goals has helped me. I understand the family time. My sons are grown and I am on my own, so my time is my time. You didn't say what you meant by family but they do come first especially your wife and children. Even if you only had 30 minutes to 1 hour a day to work on WA then that is something.

Sometimes I feel like throwing in the towel as they say, but then I also have that little voice in me that says...If someone else can do this and make money with it then so can I.

Thanks, any ideas are helpful

Schedule 4 15-20 minute task a week. Get a notebook and breakdown your article marketing, etc.. I find using a regular notebook and pen you can write your article and then fine tune keywords when you get on computer. Let me know if you like this idea?

Thanks, it's something to try!

What I was at WA for about 6 months my business my cafe in China really started to take off. I was busy from about 7 in the morning to 10 at night, and I used to fall asleep at my keyboard trying to write articles. Eventually I stopped working on my sites for about 2 months, still paying for WA because I always planned to start up again.

Eventually I realized I wanted to devote my time to the cafe, and sent an email to the support staff asking if I stop my membership, would I be able to re start at the same price (they were planning a price increase at that time). They said yes, and I decided to think it over for two weeks while the rest of my last month ran out.

In those two weeks, things with my business partner started falling apart. The cafe closed for 2 months (Chinese Holiday), and I suddenly had tons of free time to work on my sites. They really took off, and I eventually told my partner that I was no longer interested in reopening the cafe with him.

It's been about two years since then, and I'm still at WA, now doing internet marketing full time.

Point of the story is that you don't have to go full speed all the time, and you never know what the future holds! Take some time off, and come back to it with fresh eyes.

Also, remember that it gets easier with time, so you may be able to find a better balance in the future.

Best of luck to you!

Wow, that's encouraging!

Step back, take a breath, evaluate the importance of being here, take action.
:)

Thanks Shawn, will do.

Yes, James, we all reach that point at times. May I just suggest that you cut back your time you spend on your internet ventures, but don't just let them sit. If you will just continue to spend a few hours a week to do things you already know how to do, keep it live, then when you rest a bit come back full force. You are probably just on the cusp of having it work for you. It is very hard not to give up, but stay the course. I haven't done this for years and I know you stay on task, not 12 hours a day, but some activity, and rest when you are having burnout.

I understand fully and I'm sure others here do too! Have a GREAT weekend with your family. Don't get discouraged, your fire will come back soon. :)

Thanks for the encouragement!
